About the role

Complete Vision Optometrists is seeking a dedicated and multi-skilled Dispenser / Optical Assistant / Reception professional to join our team in Hornsby, NSW. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service and supporting our clinical operations. You will be the cornerstone of our front-of-house operations, managing patient interactions, dispensing optical products, and ensuring a seamless experience for every visitor to our practice. This role offers the opportunity to develop expertise across multiple areas of optical retail and healthcare administration whilst working within a supportive and professional environment.

Key responsibilities

Greeting patients with a warm welcome and managing reception duties, including appointment scheduling, patient check-ins and administrative tasks

Dispensing glasses and contact lenses to patients, ensuring accurate fulfillment of prescriptions and proper fitting guidance

Providing product knowledge and recommendations to patients, assisting them in selecting frames and lenses that suit their needs and preferences

Processing payments, managing cash and card transactions, and maintaining accurate financial records

Assisting optometrists and dispensing opticians during clinical procedures and patient consultations when required

Maintaining the optical dispensary, stock management and ordering of frames, lenses and accessories

Handling patient inquiries and complaints professionally, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention

Keeping accurate records of patient transactions and maintaining compliance with privacy and health regulations

Contributing to a clean, organised and welcoming practice environment

What we're looking for

Previous experience in optical dispensing, reception or customer service roles, or proven ability to quickly acquire these skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse patients

Proficiency with computer systems and familiarity with optical dispensing software or practice management systems is desirable

Excellent organisational and time management abilities, with capacity to multitask in a busy environment

Knowledge of optical products, lens types, and frame fitting principles, or willingness to undertake training

A professional approach to patient confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations

Attention to detail and accuracy in dispensing and administrative tasks

A customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality service

Flexibility and reliability, with the ability to work as part of a cohesive team
