About the role:
An opportunity exists for an experienced Project Supervisor to join one of Australia’s biggest and leading communications technology integrators and solution providers. You’ll provide effective onsite leadership across telecommunications and technical projects in Queensland. This role will focus on coordinating site works, supervising technical teams and subcontractors, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

You will work closely with the Project Manager and Field Operations Manager to coordinate project activities, monitor progress, resolve technical issues and ensure project objectives are achieved. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a background in the maintenance and delivery of telecommunications equipment, systems and infrastructure.

  • Metro: $65/hr + super
  • Site: $92/hr + super
  • Permanent full-time position within the QLD Projects team
  • This role is Project FIFO, so not a regular set FIFO swing that you would normally get with a site-based maintenance roster
  • Project durations vary from a few weeks to several months
  • The typical swing pattern for QLD mining projects is an 8:6 roster, but may also be a 12:9 roster
  • Brisbane metro work in between site projects

What you’ll be doing:

  • Manage and coordinate the safe delivery of project activities on site in line with project schedules, designs, budgets, and client expectations
  • Manage and supervise internal field teams, contractors, and subcontractors on all sites/areas under control
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Project Officers to ensure project timelines, equipment, and infrastructure availability are met
  • Collaborate with project management and engineering teams, providing guidance and support in the development of drawings and designs
  • Undertake Electronics Technician / Technical Specialist responsibilities when required
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to project planning and delivery
  • Provide on-the-job training and instruction to workshop and field personnel
  • Conduct pre-start and toolbox meetings and ensure HSEQ requirements are followed
  • Undertake investigations into project, maintenance and technical issues
  • Liaise with clients, vendors, suppliers and relevant trade-related authorities
  • Provide written and verbal project, technical and progress reports to management
  • Assist with quoting, scope evaluation, tender responses and engineering design within your specialised discipline
  • Ensure incidents, hazards and near misses are reported promptly and in accordance with procedures

What you’ll need to be successful in the role:

  • Full Australian working rights – this role offers no relocation assistance or Visa sponsorship
  • Mining supervision qualifications (G189 / S123) and experience, preferably having already been an authorised supervisor on a QLD coal mine
  • Standard 11 (S11)
  • Experience in the build and deployment of telecommunications systems, including site management of all required plant (i.e. cranes, EWP etc.)
  • Strong RF experience and a background in the maintenance of telecommunications equipment, systems and infrastructure
  • Experience in the construction and upgrade of telecommunication sites and infrastructure, including greenfield builds and technology upgrades
  • Experience with installation and configuration of Solar, DC, Battery Backup systems, and telecommunications power systems
  • Experience in scoping, pricing, and budgeting for site construction projects
  • Experience managing internal teams, contractors, and subcontractors
  • Experience working with engineering and drafting teams, reviewing technical drawings, and ensuring alignment with project requirements
  • Experience developing and reviewing SoWs and MOPs
  • Experience in tender preparation, quote development, and client commercial engagement
  • Experience managing multiple projects and changing priorities to achieve safe outcomes
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor and develop team members

Highly desirable:

  • Current QLD Coal Board medical
  • Construction management experience, preferably in resources, mining, or telecommunications
