About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to join the Nurse Next Door Mornington Peninsula team. This is a casual position in the Mornington Peninsula, offering flexible work arrangements to suit your availability. As a Personal Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting vulnerable members of our community, including older adults and individuals with disabilities, by providing dignified and person-centred care in their own homes. This role is essential to maintaining the independence, wellbeing and quality of life of our clients, and directly contributes to our mission of enabling people to live safely and comfortably within their own communities.

What you'll be doing

Assisting clients with personal hygiene tasks, including bathing, showering, grooming and toileting

Supporting clients with dressing and undressing in a respectful and dignified manner

Helping clients with mobility and transferring, using appropriate techniques and equipment

Providing support with light household tasks such as tidying, laundry and meal preparation to promote independence

Accompanying clients to medical appointments and community outings when required

Maintaining accurate and timely records of care provided and any changes in client condition

Building positive relationships with clients and their families through clear communication and compassionate care

Working collaboratively with the wider care team to ensure continuity and quality of support

Following all health and safety protocols, infection control procedures and client care plans

Reporting any concerns or changes in client wellbeing to your supervisor promptly

What we're looking for

A genuine passion for supporting and caring for vulnerable people in the community

Experience in aged care, disability support or personal care is highly desirable, though not essential if you have strong transferable skills

Current or willingness to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) and a Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) screening clearance

Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain this qualification

Physical fitness and ability to assist clients with mobility and transferring safely

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients

Reliability, punctuality and a professional approach to your work

The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a home-based environment

A non-judgmental attitude and respect for client dignity, privacy and independence

A current driver's licence and access to reliable transport is desirable
