About the Role

This is a hands-on project engineering role where you will support the design, delivery, construction, testing, and commissioning of solar projects from early-stage design through to project completion.

You will work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and site teams to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality solar solutions are delivered.

Key Responsibilities

Support the design and delivery of solar PV projects across commercial, industrial, and utility-scale applications.

Develop and review electrical designs, including SLDs, layouts, schematics, cable schedules, and system configurations.

Perform system modelling, load calculations, cable sizing, energy yield assessments, and performance optimisation.

Support projects through the full lifecycle, from feasibility and concept design through to construction, commissioning, and handover.

Provide technical support during procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning phases.

Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and clients to resolve technical issues and support project delivery.

Ensure designs and project activities comply with Australian Standards, grid connection requirements, client specifications, and WHS requirements.

Support QA/QC processes, including inspections, testing, documentation, defect close-out, and handover requirements.

Identify practical design improvements, efficiencies, and value engineering opportunities.

About You

You are a motivated and practical engineer with experience in solar PV design, project engineering, or renewable energy project delivery.

You will bring:

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related discipline.

3–5 years’ experience in solar PV design, implementation, or project engineering.

Experience working on commercial, industrial, or utility-scale solar projects.

Strong understanding of solar PV systems, grid connection interfaces, and electrical design principles.

Experience preparing or reviewing SLDs, layouts, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.

Proficiency in design and modelling tools such as PVSyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope, or similar.

Knowledge of Australian Standards, WHS requirements, and renewable energy compliance obligations.

Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.

Ability to work across office-based engineering and site-based project support.

Willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Desirable

Experience with utility-scale solar farms.

Experience with battery energy storage systems.

Clean Energy Council accreditation or equivalent industry accreditation.

Knowledge of National Electricity Rules and grid connection processes.

Experience with QA/QC, commissioning, defect close-out, and project handover documentation.
