Job Description
This is a fantastic opportunity for a capable and commercially minded Senior Financial Accountant to join a well established Geelong based organisation in a broad and hands on finance role.

Working closely with the Finance Manager, Finance Business Partner and operational leaders, this role will take ownership of accurate and timely financial reporting, management accounting, reconciliations, compliance support and commercial analysis across the business. The position will play an important role in improving reporting discipline, strengthening controls and providing meaningful financial insight to support better commercial decision making.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Lead ongoing performance analysis across business unit results, including margin, cost, inventory and operational drivers.
• Prepare clear commentary on performance variances, trends, risks and opportunities to support senior management and operational decision making.
• Own monthly management accounts and financial reporting deliverables, including location and consolidated P&Ls, balance sheet and cashflow reporting.
• Lead the analysis and narrative of budget and forecast variances, ensuring reporting is accurate, commercial and delivered to deadlines.
• Prepare, review and post month end journals, including accruals, prepayments, provisions and reconciliation adjustments.
• Own monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring reconciling items are investigated, resolved and appropriately documented.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and quarterly reassessment processes, including analysis of business performance against budget.
• Support tax, BAS, audit, statutory and compliance reporting requirements with a strong focus on accuracy and control.
• Maintain fixed asset register integrity, support capital expenditure reporting and assist with cash, intercompany and operational reconciliations.
• Lead system, reporting and process improvement initiatives that strengthen finance efficiency, accuracy and internal controls.
• Partner with finance, operations, sales and senior stakeholders on commercial reporting and analysis requirements.

The Successful Applicant
The successful applicant will be a confident and proactive finance professional who enjoys working in a broad role that combines technical accounting, reporting, analysis and stakeholder engagement.
You will ideally bring:

• CA/CPA qualification, or be close to completion, with strong practical accounting experience.
• 5+ years’ experience across financial accounting, management accounting or a similar commercial finance role.
• Experience preparing management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, journals, variance analysis and stakeholder reporting.
• Strong financial analysis, reporting and reconciliation capability, with excellent attention to detail and commercial judgement.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, reconciliations, data modelling and reporting file maintenance.
• Strong systems literacy, including ERP/accounting systems and reporting tools.
• Experience with Power Query, Power Pivot or similar reporting tools will be highly regarded.
• A practical, solutions focused approach with the confidence to challenge processes and recommend improvements.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate financial information into meaningful insights for non-finance stakeholders.
• Experience within manufacturing, distribution, construction materials or a multi-site environment will be highly regarded.
