Learning and Development Specialist

At Afford Disability Services, we support people with disability to live the life they choose. As a registered NDIS provider, we deliver services across New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia, including disability accommodation, in-home support, community participation, employment services, and NDIS support coordination.

We're looking for an experienced Learning and Development Specialist to design, deliver and continuously improve learning solutions that build capability, support our leaders and frontline teams, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning across the organisation.

About the Role

Reporting to the Learning and Development Manager, you'll work closely with them to identify capability needs and develop practical learning solutions that support our strategic priorities.

This is a varied role where you'll design learning programs, facilitate workshops, develop eLearning content, manage mandatory training initiatives, contribute to leadership, and career development programs. You'll also use feedback and data to evaluate learning outcomes and continuously improve our approach.

The role is based at our Parramatta Head Office, with hybrid working available. Travel between Afford sites, including occasional interstate travel, is required.

What you'll do

  • Partner with leaders to identify capability gaps and learning opportunities for our Frontline teams.
  • Design, develop and deliver engaging learning programs, workshops and capability initiatives.
  • Develop career pathways and learning solutions for frontline employees.
  • Create blended learning resources, including eLearning and digital content.
  • Facilitate face-to-face, virtual and blended learning programs.
  • Support leadership development and organisational development initiatives.
  • Coordinate mandatory training programs and learning compliance requirements.
  • Evaluate learning effectiveness and use feedback and data to continuously improve programs.
  • Promote the effective use of learning technologies and our Learning Management System.
  • Build strong working relationships across the organisation to deliver high-quality learning outcomes.

About You

You'll have experience designing and delivering learning solutions and enjoy working collaboratively with stakeholders to improve capability across the organisation.

You'll also bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Learning & Development, Education or a related discipline.
  • Experience working within the disability, community services or healthcare sector is preferred
  • Experience managing career pathways, leadership development initiatives and mandatory training programs.
  • Strong facilitation, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A customer-focused approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Experience designing, developing and facilitating workplace learning programs.
  • A sound understanding of adult learning principles.
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS), eLearning authoring tools and blended learning approaches.
  • A genuine commitment to working in a purpose-driven organisation.
  • A current driver's licence and willingness to travel as required.
  • A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) (or willingness to obtain one).
  • A current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Willingness to complete a National Police Check through Afford's pre-employment compliance process.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework.
  • Experience with instructional design methodologies and competency-based training.
