Construction Management Graduate
Sun Solutions
Posted 8 hours ago
Put your degree to work on major commercial projects in Perth.
You've spent years learning how buildings come together. Now use it. Sun Solutions is looking for a recent Construction Management graduate (or a student in their final year) to join our team and work directly alongside the directors on live commercial construction projects across Perth.
This is a true entry point into the commercial construction industry. It's broad, hands-on and full of responsibility from day one, the opposite of a narrow graduate rotation where you're one of fifty. Here, you'll learn a specialist trade from people who have done it for more than two decades, and you'll see your work go into real buildings.
The position is full-time. If you're in your final semester, we can arrange flexible hours around your study schedule. We're looking to start as soon as possible.
About us
For more than 20 years, Sun Solutions has delivered window coverings on some of Western Australia's most significant commercial projects. As a specialist subcontractor to major construction companies, we've worked across schools and universities, hospitals, health and aged care facilities, and apartment developments. We are WA's only licensed Hunter Douglas commercial dealer. We're a small, tight-knit team with a big reputation, and we do commercial work properly.
What you'll be doing
On-site measurements on commercial construction projects
Estimating, preparing tenders and quotes
Liaising with site supervisors, project managers, contract administrators and suppliers on production and scheduling
Client liaison
Compliance, working to the National Construction Code and Australian Standards
Occasional installation
Why this role suits your qualification
You'll apply what you studied from your first week, not in three years' time:
Quantity measurement and cost estimating, on live commercial projects rather than assignments
Tender documentation, preparing real tenders that win real work
Reading and interpreting plans and specifications, every single day
The National Construction Code and Australian Standards, applied on site
Contract administration and project coordination, working directly with the site supervisors, project managers and contract administrators you've studied
About you
A strong ability to read and interpret construction plans and drawings
An interest in interiors and design
Able to work unsupervised and use your initiative
Enjoy being part of a small team
Reliable and trustworthy
Accurate in recording and transcribing measurements
Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Willing to adopt new technology. We use HubSpot and SharePoint, and we don't expect you to know them. Full training is provided.
What you'll need
A recent Bachelor of Construction Management, or currently in your final year
A valid Western Australian driver's license
A White Card, or willingness to obtain one before starting
A current National Police Clearance
A copy of your qualification or academic transcript
What we offer
Direct mentoring from the business owners
Exposure to major commercial construction projects from day one
Hunter Douglas product and technical training, including interstate training
A genuine voice. We're a small team that's open to new ideas and better ways of doing things, and we want to hear yours
To apply
Apply with your CV and a short cover note telling us why this role interests you. Please attach a copy of your academic transcript.
