Make your work matter, every single day.

KSC Law is a purpose-driven legal practice dedicated to standing beside Australian Defence Force veterans and their families when it matters most. We operate within complex statutory compensation frameworks, delivering clear, ethical, and client-focused legal advice to those who have served our country.

We are growing and are looking for a Junior Lawyer who wants more than just a job. This is an opportunity to join a values-led firm where your work directly impacts the lives, financial security, and long-term wellbeing of veterans - while also building broader experience across litigation, debt collection, and insolvency.

About Us

KSC Law was established to bring accountability, professionalism, and compassion to veteran-focused legal services. Our core practice centres on veteran compensation, entitlements, and permanent impairment claims, including matters involving the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) and Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation (CSC) schemes. We also act in debt collection and insolvency matters, giving our lawyers exposure to a genuinely varied caseload.

Our team comprises experienced practitioners and paralegals who believe that how we practise law matters just as much as the outcomes we achieve.

The Role

In this role, you will work primarily across a portfolio of DVA and CSC claims, developing and managing matters from initial advice through to resolution — undertaking liability and entitlement assessments, preparing and progressing applications, and guiding clients through often complex and sensitive processes.

You'll liaise regularly with clients, medical professionals, experts, DVA, CSC, and other stakeholders, while preparing key documentation, managing procedural requirements, and contributing to strategic decision-making on each matter. Beyond your core caseload, there's scope to pick up debt collection and insolvency matters, and, where relevant, gain exposure to litigated claims.

The role involves a balance of autonomy and support - you will be trusted to take ownership of your files while working closely with experienced practitioners and supported by dedicated paralegal and administrative staff.

What Makes This Role Different

The work is demanding, but never dull. Our firm manages a significant volume of active veteran compensation claims, and each matter presents unique legal and human challenges. You will work closely with highly experienced, approachable senior lawyers in an environment that prioritises mentoring, training, and professional growth - while contributing to work that genuinely makes a difference in the lives of those who have served.

About You

You will thrive in this role if you:

Are admitted as a lawyer in Australia (or eligible for imminent admission)

Have experience in DVA and/or CSC claims (desirable, not essential — full training provided)

Have litigation experience (preferred, not essential)

Have exposure to debt collection and/or insolvency matters (highly regarded)

Are highly organised and capable of managing competing priorities

Communicate clearly, professionally, and with empathy

Are comfortable working with sensitive information and complex personal circumstances

Take pride in accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail

Enjoy both independent responsibility and working within a close-knit team

Are motivated by purpose-driven work supporting veterans

Why Join KSC Law

Work that has a genuine and lasting impact on veterans and their families

Early responsibility with strong mentoring and supervision

Exposure to a varied caseload — DVA/CSC claims, litigation, debt collection, and insolvency

A collaborative, supportive, and values-driven team culture

Ongoing training and development in a specialist area of law

The opportunity to build a meaningful long-term legal career
