About the role

Azalea Care is recruiting a dedicated team of support workers for a participant relocating to Burnie in September 2026 to continue her university studies. She is a warm, gentle and highly intelligent woman in her late twenties. She is autistic with high support needs and co-occurring mental health conditions, and she thrives with a small, stable team of calm, attuned workers she knows and trusts.

Supports are 1:1 in the participant's own home and community — Variable hours over 7 days a week. That means genuine, reliable hours: morning and daytime blocks, evening shifts and sleepovers, across permanent part-time and casual arrangements. Because consistency is the most important thing we can offer, we are looking for people who want a long-term role with the same participant, week in, week out.

What a week looks like

Supporting daily routines — gentle prompting with personal care, meals and medications

Cooking and planning meals together, household tasks, laundry and shopping

Driving the participant to appointments, university-related activities and community outings

Sharing the things she loves — animals, art, archery, walks and the gym

Providing calm emotional support and co-regulation when the world gets overwhelming

Following her Positive Behaviour Support Plan and allied health strategies precisely

Clear shift notes and warm handovers so the whole team stays consistent

Inactive sleepover shifts — being a reassuring presence overnight

About you

Experience supporting autistic adults and/or people with psychosocial disability

Calm, patient and attuned — you notice small changes early and respond gently

Reliable and consistent: you keep your shifts, because predictability matters here

You give people full choice and control — you explain and support, you don't take over

Trauma-informed in your practice, with strong professional boundaries and a warm style

LGBTQIA+ affirming — inclusive, affirming and respectful practice is essential in this role

Experience with Positive Behaviour Support Plans (highly regarded; full training provided)

Comfortable working sleepover shifts and sole-worker shifts

Essential requirements

NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain before commencement)

Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People registration

Current First Aid and CPR certificates

Current driver's licence and a reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle

NDIS Worker Orientation Module ("Quality, Safety and You") completed

Right to work in Australia and two contactable referees
