We are looking to appoint a senior commercial lawyer to lead and manage the network infrastructure and technology legal division and team.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Group General Counsel and operating within the senior legal leadership team, you will lead legal strategy and risk management across the technology and infrastructure portfolio and related matters. This spans infrastructure development and deployment, shared infrastructure and neutral host models, and major network sharing arrangements. You will be a trusted adviser to the Group General Counsel, CEO and Executive Leadership Team on high impact transactions and strategic infrastructure programs, partnering closely with senior leaders to enable the organisation's strategic agenda through commercially pragmatic advice.

On Offer

A senior leadership role with significant external visibility and C-suite level exposure

The opportunity to lead legal strategy on transformational, nationally significant infrastructure initiatives

Leadership of an established team, with scope to build bench strength and capability

Competitive remuneration plus generous short term and long term incentive participation

A strong benefits platform including additional leave, learning and development, inclusive parental leave and on-site wellbeing facilities

A culture that values inclusion, challenger spirit and diversity of thought

While the role is offered on a full-time, hybrid basis, our client is open to discussing flexible working arrangements and reasonable adjustments to support your success.

Responsibilities

Own legal strategy and governance for procurement across the technology and infrastructure portfolio, ensuring consistent, commercially sound contracting aligned to risk appetite

Lead legal support for major sourcing and infrastructure supplier arrangements, from RFP and negotiation through to contracting, transition and operationalisation

Lead legal support for major technology initiatives, including network sharing and shared infrastructure arrangements

Advise on structuring, contracting and governance for collaboration and shared infrastructure models, including risk allocation, service levels, security, data access, regulatory considerations and exit rights

Advise on contracting risk across intellectual property, confidentiality, cyber and security controls, liability and indemnities, and operational resilience

Lead, coach and develop the team, instruct and manage external counsel, and oversee external legal spend

Requirements

Law degree and an Australian Practising Certificate (or eligibility)

Senior post-qualification experience, with a strong background in technology, infrastructure or major procurement and supplier arrangements

A proven track record managing complex, multi-stakeholder matters in a regulated environment

Strong command of regulatory frameworks, risk management and corporate governance

Exceptional stakeholder engagement and executive communication skills

Demonstrated success building and leading high performing legal teams

Calm, resilient and decisive judgement, particularly in incident and crisis situations

If you're unsure whether your experience meets these requirements, but believe you offer relevant, comparable or transferable experience, please reach out to explore your suitability.

This role will suit a senior in-house lawyer or established Head of Legal / General Counsel who thrives on complex, high visibility infrastructure work and wants real influence at the leadership table.
