About the role
Join us in shaping how our community reduces waste, recycles more and keeps Sydney clean.
At City of Sydney, we’re committed to creating a sustainable, liveable city for everyone. We’re looking for a skilled communicator who can turn complex information into simple, engaging messages that inspire real behaviour change.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll plan and deliver communication and engagement that helps residents understand and use our waste and recycling services.
You’ll work across a wide range of campaigns, channels and projects, bringing together clear messaging, strong storytelling and digital tools to make a real impact.
What you’ll do:
Plan and deliver communication and engagement activities and plans that support our waste and recycling goals
Create content across multiple channels including print, web, social media and email
Write and edit clear, engaging content that is easy for our community to understand
Use data, insights and AI tools to improve targeting, efficiency and impact
Work closely with internal teams, agencies and partners to deliver high-quality outcomes
Manage multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment
What you’ll bring:
Experience delivering communication or engagement campaigns that drive behaviour change
Strong writing and content development skills across digital and traditional channels
Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
Confidence working with stakeholders and building strong relationships
Curiosity and adaptability, including being comfortable using AI and new technologies to improve how we work
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset

This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
