About VU:

At VU, we aim to be one of the leading impact universities in the world. VU is an impact-driven university committed to equity, excellence and opportunity. Based in Melbourne’s west and connected globally, we put students first through the VU Block Model®, dual sector pathways and strong industry partnerships. We are a values-led, inclusive workplace where diverse talent is supported to make a real difference.

About the Role:

As Regional Recruitment Manager for Southeast Asia, you will be the driving force behind VU’s presence in a portfolio of high-priority markets. Reporting to the Director, International, you will lead a team of in-country representatives and take full ownership of the SEA recruitment strategy — from market intelligence and agent network management through to recruitment plans, marketing activities and enrolment outcomes.

This is a fixed term contract until end January 2028.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll spend time in-market, building the relationships that matter, while also working closely with colleagues across VU Global to ensure the SEA strategy connects seamlessly with the broader institutional agenda.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Lead and execute regional recruitment plans that deliver measurable enrolment growth and meet institutional targets

Build and manage a high-performing agent network, maximising return on investment and conversion performance

Drive data-informed decision making, translating market intelligence into actionable recruitment plans

Manage budgets and financial performance, including forecasting, investment decisions and business case development

Ensure full compliance with ESOS, Genuine Student requirements and relevant regulatory frameworks

This role requires the successful candidate to travel domestically and overseas.

Position Details:

Classification: HEP 8
Salary: $113,953 – $128,326 + 17% superannuation

About You:

You are a seasoned international student recruitment professional with deep knowledge of South East Asia and a proven track record of delivering results. You understand the nuances of the SEA market — the agents, the student motivations, the competitive dynamics — and you know how to turn that insight into enrolment growth.

You lead with confidence, develop the people around you and are comfortable working at pace across a complex, geographically dispersed environment.

You will also bring:

Proven success in international student recruitment and marketing, with experience in the SEA region

A track record of developing, delivering and evaluating recruitment plans that achieve measurable outcomes

Experience leading geographically dispersed teams and high-performing agent networks

Highly developed communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills, with strong cross-cultural competency

Strong financial acumen — budgeting, forecasting, business case development and investment decision-making

Postgraduate qualifications or equivalent extensive professional experience

Competency in a language other than English relevant to the market highly desirable.

This role requires applicants to have full and permanent working rights in Australia.
