The Opportunity

This is not a traditional, business-facing requirements-gathering role. As the Business Applications – Integration Lead, you will step into a purely technical domain to lead the design, specification mapping, and data flow architecture for 11 critical integration points across our enterprise landscape, connecting the modern core HRIS and payroll environments to a brand-new, enterprise-wide Workforce Management platform.

Operating within a unique, internal-led delivery model without the rigid scaffolding typically provided by an external system integrator partner, this position demands a high degree of technical seniority and independence. You will act as the ultimate technical anchor for the integration stream, bringing the sharp professional judgment needed to independently evaluate third-party specifications, challenge design assumptions, and confidently differentiate a sound, scalable architectural choice from a flawed one. This is a rare chance to own a complex enterprise blueprint from end to end, with excellent potential to transition into a permanent technology leadership team post-engagement.

What You'll Do

In this role, your focus will be entirely technical, sitting squarely between data schemas and vendor management. You will take complete ownership of designing, mapping, and orchestrating integration patterns rather than writing hands-on deployment code.

Lead Integration Architecture: Author, own, and maintain the comprehensive integration design and register covering 11 in-scope interfaces across the enterprise landscape.

Orchestrate Middleware & Data Flows: Architect technical specifications for a critical core platform-to-platform data flow managed via a vendor-supported gateway, alongside a suite of bespoke flat-file integrations moving through Azure Integration Services (AIS).

Navigate the AIS Production Rollout: Design the blueprint for upcoming file-based patterns as the cloud integration platform prepares to launch its first API into production in August 2026, progressively building out the remaining interface ecosystem thereafter.

Manage Technical Vendor Relationships: Serve as the core technical point of contact for external platform vendors and implementation software partners, critically reviewing their configuration deliverables, schemas, and data mapping matrices.

Partner and Mentor Internally: Act as a close technical advisor and mentor to our newly appointed internal Technology Lead, sharing knowledge, managing cross-functional dependencies, and uplifting internal operational readiness.

Enforce Data Rules and Testing: Define precise data quality rules, exception-handling protocols, and error-monitoring alerts (leveraging modern data quality and cloud monitoring tools) in close partnership with the project Test Lead.

To be successful, you’ll bring:

Proven Integration Leadership: Significant experience leading the integration workstream for large-scale enterprise system implementations, with demonstrated success authoring technical design documents from scratch.

Middleware Familiarity: Strong technical understanding of integration patterns (real-time, batch, file-based, event-driven) with technical exposure to Microsoft Azure Integration Services (Logic Apps, API Management, Service Bus, Azure Monitor) or similar enterprise cloud integration engines.

Exceptional Technical Judgment: The seniority and independence to critique external vendor specifications, manage scope boundaries, and make high-stakes design decisions autonomously.

Technical Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication skills tailored exclusively for technical audiences, vendor consultants, and system owners rather than operational business users.

HRIS, Payroll, or WFM Exposure (Advantageous): Previous experience handling integration touchpoints involving enterprise HRIS, payroll platforms, or large-scale workforce management/rostering systems is highly beneficial but not a mandatory requirement.
