TWFS is currently seeking an experienced Brake Press Operator & Laser Cutter Operator for a full-time, permanent opportunity with one of our valued manufacturing clients based in Sunshine West, Victoria.

About the Role

As a Brake Press Operator & Laser Cutter Operator, you will play a key role in the pre-fabrication process, transforming raw aluminium, stainless steel, and mild steel materials into precision components for custom manufacturing projects.

Working from engineering drawings and production requirements, you will operate advanced CNC machinery to cut, fold, and shape components to exact specifications while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate industrial CNC fibre laser cutting equipment.
• Use laser cutting software to manage cutting parameters, nesting layouts, and production settings.
• Operate CNC hydraulic press brake machinery to complete precision folding and forming tasks.
• Select appropriate tooling and dies to achieve accurate bends and profiles.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, flat patterns, and fabrication specifications.
• Measure and inspect completed components using verniers, callipers, and other measuring equipment.
• Complete first-off inspections and maintain production quality standards.
• Process aluminium, stainless steel, and mild steel materials across various thicknesses.
• Perform basic machine maintenance, including cleaning, adjustments, and operational checks.
• Maintain a safe, organised, and efficient workshop environment.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Proven experience operating industrial CNC fibre laser cutters.
• Experience setting up and operating CNC press brakes.
• Experience with laser cutting control software such as CypCut (or equivalent).
• Experience with hydraulic CNC/NC press brake systems.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and flat-pattern layouts.
• Experience working with large-format sheet metal and plate materials.
• Strong understanding of bend allowances, tolerances, and material spring-back.
• A strong commitment to safety, quality, and attention to detail.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

• Trade qualification in Sheet Metal, Fabrication, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience operating high-power industrial laser cutting equipment.
• Forklift Licence (LF) highly regarded for material handling.
