Great opportunity to join a well-established Australian manufacturing Company that provide a range of building products and solutions to their customers throughout Australia. The Company run a medium sized multi-shift operation (AM and PM) with a mix of production processes. This is a fast-paced environment with “made-to-order” building product with often next day delivery requirements.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the leadership and management of transport, distribution, and logistics for this medium sized business that foster a high level of customer service. This is a key position in the Company as you will be involved in driving the day-to-day operational allocation and scheduling, coordination, and monitoring of all freight movements to a customer base throughout SA. You will be required to manage the efficiencies within the operation to ensure a safe, cost-effective, fast, and reliable delivery service of manufactured products to the market whilst ensuring compliance with company policies, risk management, Chain of Responsibility (CoR) & NHVR requirements.

This is a busy “hands on” role where you will oversee a team of 20+ including Supervisors and staff involved in Load Planning & Delivery Scheduling, Despatch, Loaders/Forklift Operators & Heavy Vehicle Drivers. You will oversee and ensure that all deliveries & loads are compliant and meet standards including all safety and regulatory requirements, cost control of all fleet (Company and External) including subcontractors and labour hire, fleet utilization, fleet maintenance and risk management, improving processes to reduce errors and conduct ongoing training and development of your team - ultimately to drive performance outcomes and focus on continual improvement.

An experienced Transport Manager with a proven track record, you will also have general warehouse, despatch and logistics experience. You may have worked for a Building Products, Engineering or Industrial manufacturer and supplier, where the delivery of mixed freight requires a fast turnaround to your customer base. You will have managed your own Fleet and Team of Drivers, Subcontract Transport personnel and Despatch department. With an excellent knowledge of transport logistics, freight, and delivery services, you will demonstrate: strong proactive leadership and management skills, ability to make informed commercial decisions and solve operational issues quickly, excellent planning, time management and organizational skills, be IT literate, customer focused, resilient, calm, committed and outcome oriented.
