ROLE — STUDIO PRODUCER / TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

Melbourne-based | Freelance/Contract

Purpose

We are looking for an experienced hands-on Studio Producer/Technical Director to help establish and operate a premium home-based podcast and media studio in Melbourne West (POINT COOK).

This is the most important technical appointment in our production team.

The successful person will initially work with our equipment supplier/installers to ensure the studio is configured for reliable, repeatable and simple operation. After commissioning, the role will become an occasional production and technical-support engagement.

The hosts are not technical operators, so the studio must be designed around simplicity, reliability and professional quality.

Responsibilities

The Studio Producer/Technical Director will:

Review and optimise the installed studio configuration.

Configure cameras, lenses and camera profiles.

Establish consistent lighting scenes.

Configure microphones, audio processing and recording levels.

Set up video switching and recording.

Establish camera angles for two hosts and guests.

Ensure synchronisation of video and audio.

Establish file-management and backup procedures.

Create repeatable presets so hosts do not need to reconfigure equipment.

Develop a simple pre-recording checklist.

Troubleshoot technical problems.

Train Bunmi and Temi in basic operation.

Liaise with the remote editing team.

Occasionally attend important recording sessions.

Assist with livestreaming when required.

Maintain professional visual and audio standards as the show develops.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone with experience in one or more of:

podcast studios

broadcast production

multi-camera video production

YouTube production

television/broadcast environments

corporate video studios

The person must understand cameras, lighting AND audio rather than specialising in only one discipline.

Most importantly, they must be able to make sophisticated technology simple for non-technical hosts.

Engagement

Initial:
Approximately 2–3 days commissioning/testing/training.

Ongoing:
Ad hoc technical support and occasional production sessions.

No full-time employment is required.
