The Discovery Health Centre is a newly established General Practice with Specialist Consulting Suites located in Mount Pleasant, conveniently close to Mater Hospital.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Medical Receptionist to join our growing team General Practice on a casual basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in medical administration within a supportive healthcare environment.

Suitable candidates will receive training to assist in the operation of specialist consulting clinics as well if required.

About the Role

Current clinic operating hours are:

Monday to Friday – 8:00 am to 5:00 pm [ Might change ]

Your responsibilities will include:

Opening and closing the practice

Managing patient appointments, bookings, check-ins, and billing

Processing Medicare, DVA, and private billings

Medical records management

Tracking and processing test results, referrals, and correspondence

Communicating professionally with patients, specialists, healthcare providers, and the practice team via phone, email, and face-to-face interactions

Maintaining a clean, organised, and welcoming practice environment

Supporting workplace health and safety requirements

Working collaboratively within the healthcare team

About You

We are looking for someone who:

Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Possesses general computer literacy and the ability to learn medical management software

Demonstrates strong attention to detail and organisational skills

Can work independently and make appropriate decisions when required

Understands the importance of privacy and confidentiality in healthcare

Is reliable, professional, and committed to high-quality patient care

Has a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and strong work ethic

Enjoys working as part of a team

Experience and Training

Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist will be highly regarded but is not essential.

Comprehensive training will be provided for the right candidate.

Remuneration

Salary will be paid according to the applicable award and will depend on the successful applicant's age, qualifications, and previous experience.
