Job Summary

The Carpenter / Interior Fit-Out Installer will fabricate, assemble, install, repair and complete customised carpentry and interior joinery works.

The successful candidate must be able to interpret technical drawings, take accurate measurements, prepare materials, operate woodworking tools and machinery, assemble furniture and complete on-site installation to the required quality standard.

The role involves both workshop fabrication and installation at residential and commercial project sites.

Key Responsibilities

Read and interpret shop drawings, construction drawings, cutting lists and specifications.

Conduct site measurements and verify dimensions before fabrication.

Measure, mark, cut, shape, drill and prepare timber, plywood, MDF, laminates and related materials.

Fabricate and assemble customised furniture and interior carpentry.

Install kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, vanity cabinets, storage units, feature walls, counters, doors, panels and other fitted furniture.

Install hinges, drawer runners, handles, locks, brackets and other furniture hardware.

Install and adjust furniture hardware from brands such as Blum, Häfele or equivalent systems.

Carry out laminate application, edge finishing, trimming, sanding and alignment work.

Ensure cabinetry is level, plumb, properly aligned and securely fixed.

Carry out accurate site cutting, fitting, scribing, jointing and finishing.

Coordinate with project managers, designers, site supervisors and other trades.

Check site conditions and report dimensional discrepancies or installation constraints before proceeding.

Protect completed flooring, walls, ceilings and surrounding finishes during installation.

Conduct repair, adjustment, touch-up and defect-rectification works.

Inspect completed work and ensure it complies with approved drawings and quality requirements.

Maintain woodworking tools, machines and equipment in safe working condition.

Keep the workshop and project work areas clean, organised and safe.

Follow workplace safety procedures, method statements and site instructions.

Use appropriate personal protective equipment.

Attend toolbox briefings and comply with project-site safety requirements.

Minimise material wastage and use materials efficiently.

Complete assigned works according to the project programme.

Support loading, unloading, delivery and movement of carpentry items when required.

Perform other carpentry-related duties assigned by the supervisor or project manager.

Requirements

At least five to ten years of practical experience in furniture carpentry, cabinetry, joinery or interior fit-out installation.

Proven ability to fabricate and install customised furniture.

Able to read and understand shop drawings, technical details and measurements.

Knowledge of plywood, MDF, laminates, veneers, timber and furniture hardware.

Able to operate common woodworking tools and machines safely.

Experience with cabinet assembly, hardware installation and final adjustment.

Good understanding of carpentry joints, fixing methods and finishing requirements.

Able to carry out accurate measurements and work independently.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Able to identify problems and suggest practical installation solutions.

Able to work effectively with supervisors, designers and other trades.

Able to safely handle materials, tools and furniture components required for the role.

Willing to work at different project sites across Singapore.

Willing to work overtime, evenings or weekends when required by the project programme.

Responsible, punctual and able to complete assigned work within deadlines.

Formal academic qualifications are not essential where the applicant can demonstrate strong practical carpentry skills and relevant working experience.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

The following will be advantageous:

Experience in residential, condominium, commercial or hospitality fit-out projects.

Experience in customised kitchen and wardrobe fabrication.

Experience using panel saws, table saws, edge banders, routers, drills and related machinery.

Experience installing concealed hinges, soft-close drawer systems and lift-up mechanisms.

Knowledge of solid-surface, stone, glass or metal coordination.

Relevant carpentry, woodworking, BCA, WSQ or trade-skills certification.

Experience guiding junior carpenters or installation assistants.

Ability to prepare or verify material cutting lists.

Basic ability to communicate site progress and material requirements through mobile applications.
