About Early Bird Therapy

Early Bird Therapy provides Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, and other allied health services for children aged 0-7 who have a developmental delay or disability.

We work closely with families and other organisations to deliver high-quality services at our Fyshwick clinic, in children's homes, or at educational settings.

We are a caring and enthusiastic team of professionals who love to do our jobs well so that the families that we work get the best outcomes possible.

Allied Health Assistant Role

We are looking for a passionate and caring person who would like to join us as a junior member of our team. This role will be best suited to a Speech Pathology or Occupational Therapy student who would like to gain experience working in the industry.

You will work as a member of our therapy team providing services and making resources for a variety of children, under the supervision of qualified therapists. For Speech Pathology students, this may involve modelling the use of AAC, working on developing particular speech sounds, or working on language targets. For Occupational Therapy students, this may involve working on play skills, fine motor skills, and activities of daily living. Our Allied Health Assistants also work alongside therapists in our therapy groups.

This is a casual role to allow for flexibility around university schedules, however that it is anticipated that you will work on average around 1-2 days per week.

Skills and Experience

While applicants who have some experience in working with children and families are preferred, all candidates who have a strong desire to work in our industry are welcome to apply.

Essential:

Eligibility to work in Australia

Currently studying to become a Speech Pathologist or Occupational Therapist

Current Working with Vulnerable People Check/NDIS Worker Screening

Ability to work as a member of a collaborative team

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong ability to build rapport with children and families

Driver's licence

Desired:

Experience working with children and families

Experience working with people with disabilities and developmental delays
