Our client is a well established, Melbourne based commercial interior design & construction company with over 40 years of industry experience and 4,000+ successful projects delivered. They partner with Australian businesses across technology, pharmaceutical, automotive, manufacturing, education and professional services sectors to design and deliver intelligent, high performing workplaces from initial concept through to construction. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an Interior Designer to join their design team.
The Role
You'll provide interior design support across a range of commercial projects, contributing to the delivery of innovative and functional workplace solutions that meet client objectives. You'll be involved in all stages of the design process from concept development and documentation through to design presentations and project coordination, working closely with clients, consultants, suppliers and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to a high standard of quality.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in delivering the full design process from concept development through to project completion
Develop Concept, Design Development, Tender and Construction Documentation packages
Prepare design specifications, CAD drawings, schedules, presentations and supporting project documentation
Support coordination of internal and external design, architectural and consultant resources
Liaise with clients and the sales/estimating team to understand project requirements and scope
Participate in project meetings with clients, consultants, suppliers and internal stakeholders
Assist with space planning and the selection of furniture, finishes, materials and FF&E solutions
Produce mood boards, material palettes and design presentations that communicate design intent
Manage assigned project tasks and priorities to meet deadlines and objectives
About You
Industry recognised Diploma or Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Architecture
Understanding of commercial interior design principles, design documentation and construction processes of at least 3 years
Familiarity with furniture systems, finishes, materials and workplace design solutions is desirable
Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office
Working knowledge of building codes, standards and permitting processes relevant to interior design
Strong communication, collaboration, organisational and time management skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects and deadlines in a fast paced environment
