Reporting to the Director, Corporate & Community Services and supported by a proficient and experienced finance team, the significant portfolio oversees the following functions:
· Strategic Financial Planning
· Accounts and payroll
· Audit and assessment
· Rating
· Financial reporting and compliance.
The key responsibilities include:
Preparation of statutory financial reports and returns in accordance with relevant legislation and Standards
Developing and reviewing internal controls and audits and reporting to the Audit & Risk Committee in regard to compliance with Internal Controls
Leading the development and implementation of Council’s Annual Business Plan and Budget process within defined timelines and in accordance with legislative requirements
Leading, motivating, coaching, supporting and supervising a diverse cross functional team, and developing and maintaining a positive and productive culture that fosters collaboration and continuous improvement.
Relevant qualifications are essential along with proven financial and management accounting/finance and leadership expertise, ideally from local government or another highly regulated and/or compliance oriented setting.
A passionate and proactive approach, excellent verbal and written communications skills, strong attention to detail and proficient computer literacy will be essential.
The ability to lead and inspire, collaborate across Council whilst aligning to the strategic objectives, will also be critical to success.
