Our client is seeking an experienced Lift Superintendent to join their Sydney-based operation and take responsibility for the safe, efficient and compliant delivery of complex crane, lifting and rigging operations across major construction and infrastructure projects.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced lifting professional who combines strong technical crane and rigging expertise with site supervision, safety leadership and commercial awareness.
Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Site Supervisors, HSEQ teams, subcontractors and crane providers, you will play a key role in ensuring lifting operations are professionally planned, properly resourced and executed to the highest safety and compliance standards.
About the Role
Reporting to senior project leadership, you will oversee crane and rigging operations from initial planning through to execution, ensuring every lift is delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supervising crane, lifting and rigging activities across major construction and infrastructure projects
Reviewing lift studies, lift plans and lifting assessments
Ensuring lifting operations comply with WHS legislation, Australian Standards, Codes of Practice and company procedures
Coordinating crane providers, subcontractors and specialist lifting crews
Working closely with engineers and project teams during the planning and execution of complex lifts
Providing technical advice on crane selection, lifting methodology and equipment requirements
Identifying lifting risks and implementing practical control measures
Leading critical lift planning and lifting workshops
Ensuring personnel, plant and lifting equipment are appropriately certified, inspected and competent
Supporting project teams with high-risk and complex lifting activities
Investigating and resolving lifting and rigging issues
Mentoring and developing lifting personnel
Contributing to the development and implementation of lifting safety procedures and systems
Driving continuous improvement across lifting operations
Ensuring lifting activities are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget
What We're Looking For
We are looking for a hands-on Crane Supervisor, Lift Superintendent or Senior Lifting Professional with extensive experience across construction, civil infrastructure, utilities, major projects or heavy industry.
Ideally, you will have:
8+ years' experience within crane, lifting, rigging or construction environments
Proven experience supervising complex and high-risk lifting operations
Strong knowledge of crane legislation, Australian Standards and lifting requirements
Demonstrated experience reviewing and approving lift plans and lift studies
Strong understanding of mobile, crawler, tower and Franna crane operations
Advanced Rigging and Dogging qualifications
Relevant Mobile Crane and/or Tower Crane High Risk Work Licences
Strong WHS/HSEQ knowledge and a safety-first approach
Experience working with engineers, project managers, subcontractors and specialist lifting contractors
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Strong leadership, planning and decision-making capability
The ability to identify practical, safe and compliant lifting solutions
A strong understanding of construction methodology and major project environments
