The Role

We are seeking an experienced Livestock Overseer to join a Horse Stud team in Willaura, VIC, within the agriculture and equine industry. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will oversee the daily care, breeding, and management of horses while coordinating staff and farm operations. You will play a key role in maintaining animal health, welfare, and productivity in a structured and safety-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

This role supports the management of livestock operations, ensuring animal welfare and efficient farm performance.

  • Supervise the care and management of mares, stallions, foals, and young horses
  • Oversee feeding, watering, and nutrition programs
  • Monitor horse health and coordinate veterinary and farrier services
  • Assist with breeding, foaling, weaning, and young horse development
  • Supervise staff and allocate daily tasks
  • Maintain paddocks, stables, fencing, and watering systems
  • Keep accurate livestock, breeding, and treatment records
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with WHS, biosecurity, and animal welfare standards

Your Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have strong equine experience and leadership capability in a farm environment.

  • Proven experience working with horses in a breeding or livestock setting
  • Ability to supervise staff and coordinate daily farm operations
  • Strong understanding of animal health, welfare, and breeding practices
  • Experience operating farm machinery and equipment
  • Current driver's licence (essential)
  • Reliable, organised, and able to work independently and within a team
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
