About the Role
As an Insurance Building Assessor / Estimator, you will be responsible for assessing residential building damage, preparing detailed repair scopes and cost estimates, and providing professional reports to support insurance claims.
This position combines field and office-based work throughout South East Queensland and Northern Rivers (NSW) and requires a strong understanding of residential construction, insurance repair processes and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Assessments & Estimating
Conduct residential site inspections.
Safely undertake roof inspections (working at heights is essential).
Assess damage and determine appropriate repair methodologies.
Prepare detailed repair scopes, cost estimates and expert reports.
Review engineering reports, plans and technical documentation where required.
Client & Stakeholder Management
Liaise with homeowners, insurers, loss adjusters and subcontractors.
Provide outstanding customer service throughout the assessment process.
Maintain clear and professional communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Project Coordination
Work closely with supervisors and trade coordinators
Assist in resolving scope variations and technical queries.
Manage multiple projects while meeting internal and external KPIs.
Administration
Maintain accurate records within Prime Ecosystem and insurer portals.
Upload reports, photographs and supporting documentation within required timeframes.
Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate and compliant.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Follow all company WHS policies and procedures.
Maintain safe work practices during all site inspections.
Represent The Blue Heeler Group professionally at all times.
Skills & Experience
Essential
Previous experience as an Insurance Building Assessor, Insurance Estimator or similar role.
Strong knowledge of residential construction and repair methodologies.
Experience preparing detailed reports, repair scopes and cost estimates.
Experience writing professional assessment and expert reports.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
High level of computer literacy.
Current unrestricted Australian Driver Licence.
Current White Card.
Full Australian working rights.
Ability to safely inspect roofs and work at heights (working at heights essential).
Highly Regarded
Trade qualification (Carpentry or similar) - Highly Regarded
QBCC Supervisor or Builder Licence - Highly Regarded
Experience using multiple online portals
Previous insurance repair industry experience.
