An established global mid-tier accounting and advisory firm is growing its Corporate Bookkeeping / Outsourced Finance team in Melbourne, creating two opportunities at Senior Bookkeeper / Outsourced Finance Officer and Manager level.

These roles would suit experienced bookkeeping or accounting professionals looking for broader exposure than a traditional transactional bookkeeping position.

Working with a portfolio of corporate clients, the team provides an outsourced finance function spanning end-to-end bookkeeping, management reporting, payroll and compliance, while working closely with the firm’s broader Business Advisory and Tax teams.

With new leadership and a growing client base, it’s also an opportunity to take greater ownership of client relationships and outcomes, while continuing to develop your technical and commercial capability.

The opportunities

At Senior Bookkeeper / Outsourced Finance Officer level, you’ll take ownership of the day-to-day finance requirements for a portfolio of corporate clients.

Your work will cover end-to-end bookkeeping and month-end processes, including reconciliations, management reporting, payroll, statutory obligations and preparing accounts through to trial balance.

This is also a client-facing position. You’ll build relationships directly with clients, respond to day-to-day finance and accounting matters and provide guidance and review to more junior and offshore team members.

At Manager level, the position moves into broader client, portfolio and people leadership.

You’ll oversee the delivery and quality of work across a portfolio, manage workflow and resources, develop team members and work closely with senior stakeholders across the firm. You’ll also take greater ownership of client relationships and contribute to the continued growth and development of the function.

About you

We’re open to speaking with candidates at different stages of their career, depending on which opportunity is most relevant.

For the Senior Bookkeeper / Outsourced Finance Officer position, you’ll ideally bring:

5+ years’ experience in bookkeeping, outsourced finance or a similar accounting role

Strong end-to-end bookkeeping and month-end capability

Experience preparing management accounts and financial reports

Good knowledge of Australian payroll and compliance requirements

Strong Xero skills and confidence using Excel

Confidence managing your own workload and dealing directly with clients

Experience reviewing or supporting junior team members will be well regarded

For the Manager opportunity, you’ll bring more extensive experience together with demonstrated capability across client portfolio management, people leadership, workflow and review.

Experience within an accounting firm or professional services environment would be particularly relevant.

A bookkeeping or accounting qualification is preferred, while CA, CPA or equivalent is advantageous rather than essential for the Manager position.

Both positions are based in the Melbourne CBD with hybrid working available.
