The Opportunity
We are on the hunt for a Cost & Schedule Controller to join our Perth-based team on an 18-month contract. Your focus will be on providing integrated project cost control and scheduling to ensure projects are delivered within budget, on time and in line with site standards.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
Cost Control:
Accurately track project costs, budgets, and commitments (labour, materials, subcontracts) to produce forecasts and trends
Generate timely, accurate, and detailed reports, including project cash flow, for both site construction team and Perth-based management team
Assist in converting project estimates to control budgets and managing project change management processes to track variations
Review vendor invoices, process payment claims, and ensure project vendor accounts are accurately closed out
Scheduling:
Develop, maintain, and update integrated project schedules across all construction phases
Monitor schedule performance, identify critical path activities, and track milestone achievements
Conduct schedule variance analysis and provide early warning of potential delays or risks
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure schedule alignment and integration
Prepare schedule reports including progress curves, lookahead schedules, and recovery plans
Integrated Performance Analysis:
Evaluate project progress against schedules and budgets (actuals to budget/forecast), providing integrated earned value analysis to Project Managers
Identify trends and variances in cost and schedule performance to ensure adherence to financial and delivery goals
Support project planning activities by integrating cost and schedule data for decision-making
Systems & Stakeholder Engagement:
Utilise and update project control systems, with experience in software like Primavera P6, CMS, and Pronto highly regarded
Travel to site in Malawi, as required
Willingness to travel to Malawi on a mandatory basis is essential for this role
Travel to Malawi will be required on an as-needed basis to support project operations
About You
Our ideal candidate will have 5+ years' experience in project controls, cost administration, and scheduling within major capital resources, mining, or EPCM projects. They will also bring a practical knowledge of project governance, management of change, and the project lifecycle. Other key skills, experience, and qualifications:
Australian work rights are required for this position.
Minimum of 3-4 years' experience in project controls and cost administration is required.
Commerce or finance qualifications are specifically required for this role
Strong understanding of project cost management, scheduling methodologies (CPM, Critical Path), and performance reporting
Familiar with engineering and project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and QA/QC records
Proficient in document control processes and systems
Proficient in Primavera P6, Pronto ERP system, MS Project, Excel, and CMS
Understanding of earned value management (EVM) principles and integration of cost and schedule data
