Junior Project Manager | Client-Side Consultancy | Sydney
About the Business

Our client is an established Sydney-based property and project management consultancy providing project management, development management, superintendency and advisory services across the full property development lifecycle.

The business works across a diverse range of sectors including residential, retirement and aged care, health, education, hospitality, industrial, land development and social and affordable housing. Their involvement can span everything from feasibility and planning through design management, procurement, construction and final handover.

They have delivered projects ranging from smaller developments through to significant large-scale schemes, giving their Project Managers exposure to different clients, project stages and delivery challenges.

More importantly for this appointment, they're looking for someone who can become a long-term part of the team. Culture, attitude and willingness to learn are every bit as important as having the right technical background.

The Opportunity

Due to continued project activity, they're looking to appoint a Junior Project Manager to join the Sydney team, with a potential start from September.

You'll work alongside experienced Project Managers and Directors, supporting projects across different stages of the development and construction lifecycle.

This isn't intended to be a purely administrative project support position. As your experience develops, you'll be given increasing responsibility for managing consultants, contractors, programmes, procurement and client relationships.

They're ultimately looking for someone with the ambition and capability to progress through the business and become one of its future leaders.

While previous client-side consultancy experience would be preferred, they're also open to someone coming from a strong construction background who can demonstrate the right communication skills, commercial awareness and motivation to transition client-side.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting the delivery of projects from early planning and design through construction and handover

Coordinating architects, engineers and other project consultants

Assisting with project programmes, budgets, reporting and risk management

Supporting tendering, procurement and contractor engagement

Attending and contributing to client, consultant and contractor meetings

Monitoring project progress, actions and key deliverables

Assisting with contract administration and superintendent responsibilities

Building strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders

Identifying project risks and helping develop practical solutions

Taking increasing ownership of projects as your experience develops

About You

We're looking for someone who is ambitious, personable and genuinely interested in building a long-term career in client-side project management.

You'll ideally have:

Approximately 3–4 years' experience within the construction industry

Ideally at least 12 months' experience within a project management consultancy, although this isn't essential. Previous construction-side experience is also beneficial

A relevant degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, Architecture or similar

Exposure to the Sydney construction market essential

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Good understanding of the construction and project delivery process

Strong organisation and attention to detail

A proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership

Confidence working with clients, consultants and contractors

Genuine ambition to continue developing professionally and progress within the business

Previous residential experience would be advantageous. The business works across multiple sectors and is more interested in finding the right person with the capability and attitude to develop.

What's in it for you?

Genuine pathway from Junior Project Manager through to PM and beyond

Direct exposure to experienced senior Project Managers and business leaders

Opportunity to work across the full development and construction lifecycle

Diverse exposure across multiple property and construction sectors

Increasing project ownership as your experience develops

Client-facing experience from an early stage

Join a business that places genuine importance on attitude, culture and long-term development

Opportunity to establish yourself within the business and develop into a future leader

If you're currently working within a project management consultancy or construction environment and are looking for a role that offers broader exposure, greater responsibility and genuine long-term progression, we'd be keen to hear from you.
