This complex, multi-faceted organisation has been successfully operating in the Canberra region for over 100 years and are one of the ACT’s largest employers.

The Opportunity

The Manager, Ground and Zone Assets Delivery is part of the Network Delivery Group and is responsible for the stewardship and operational oversight of this utilities Ground and Zone Substation network.

The role is critical to delivering programs and projects that align with network plans, aiming to improve reliability and service to customers. This includes operating with a commercial risk-based approach in a capital and resource constrained environment, and being responsible for:

  • Zone Substations, switching stations, on-ground and under-ground assets within the Evoenergy Electrical Distribution Network
  • Leading the Protection and Zone Assets work delivery teams
  • Delivering the works programs

The Role

Reporting to the GM of Network Delivery, the role works closely with the Manager Secondary Systems and Network Design to ensure safe operation of the secondary systems network and delivery of the secondary systems works programs.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Developing and leading the implementation of the Ground and Zones Delivery teams’ business plan in alignment with the Network Delivery business plan
  • Developing and delivering the annual zone substation, secondary systems, on-ground and under-ground asset management program of work to budget, ensuring network and community safety outcomes are delivered in accordance with corporate objectives, legislative requirements and community expectations
  • Financial management and accountability for the Ground and Zone Assets Section operational and maintenance budget, including the development of the annual budget and quarterly forecast
  • Establishing and managing contracts for the delivery of projects and maintenance activities within the portfolio
  • Developing close working relationships with asset management teams to inform them of emerging trends in relation to asset performance
  • Managing the portfolios emergency response and field resources in situations of declared emergency response to restore supply and re-establish the safety of network assets, in the shortest possible time
  • Participating in the on-call roster, as required

The Ideal Person

You are a highly experienced and accomplished electrical engineer, with a track record of success of project delivery, resource planning, and works and contract management in electricity distribution.

You will have 10 + years of industry experience in leadership roles and be able to work collaboratively and lead with purpose. In addition, you will have:

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or related discipline and significant years of operational experience in a similar role
  • MBA, Master in Engineering, Master in Management (desirable but not essential)
  • Proven business and financial acumen, with experience managing $20M+ capital and operational programs
  • Deep understanding of electricity network infrastructure operations and maintenance
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a technical workforce, within an industrially complex environment, including motivating teams and influencing others to deliver outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience leading organisational wide change in safety, works delivery and improvement initiatives
  • Ability to utilise Asset Management Systems Engineering and Analysis skills and practices to manage works programs and practices end- to end using IT systems to support this requirement
  • Demonstrated ability to manage safety and risk across technical operations

Salary / Rate

  • $220k - $232k + 16% Super + relocation assistance
  • Canberra based role, must be locally based or willing to relocate
  • Permanent role with industry leading employer
