About The Company:
Fox Dairies started farming in 2010 and has since quadrupled in production, increasing from 1 farm to 3 irrigated dairy farms plus 1 farm for growing out the replacement young stock. Located in Stanhope, Wyuna and Merton, we are now one of Dairy Australia’s largest producers and our plan is to double production in the next 5 years. We produce premium quality milk to Coles, and other major processors.
The business also operates a growing beef-on-dairy program. Fox Dairies currently runs a fully staffed, self-contained calf rearing unit that is rearing around 2,000 calves per year, with plans to increase to approximately 4,000 calves over the next 12 months. All dairy replacement calves are grown out on the Merton property and surrounding out-blocks, while beef cross calves are transitioned into a grain supplemented program and exited out to either backgrounders, feedlots, or processors.
It is our people who make the real difference. We promote from within wherever possible and offer excellent opportunities for people who want to keep learning. One employee started as a milker and became our business manager, while others joined as backpackers and have progressed into Team Leader roles. We have a strong company culture, many long-term team members, and work with a progressive but practical manner, bettering systems and processes, to be more efficient and improve farm performance.
About The Role:
This is a genuine hands-on leadership role overseeing Fox Dairies’ beef and dairy replacement stock across our growing farm network. You will spend most of your time out on farm, working directly with cattle and staff, rather than being office based. You will be responsible for day-to-day stock management, animal health programs, feeding, weighing, growth targets, pasture use, water and fencing checks, and the practical organisation of livestock movements and seasonal work.
We are looking for someone who is calm around cattle, confident handling young stock, well organised, and able to lead by example. You will work closely with farm owners, managers and staff to keep cattle healthy, growing well and moving through the system efficiently. The role suits a practical livestock person who enjoys variety, takes pride in animal presentation and performance, and can balance hands-on work with planning, record keeping and communication.
We genuinely support work-life balance. Where practical, we will work with you to design a roster that supports both farm requirements and your personal commitments.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced livestock person who wants to take ownership of beef and young stock performance within a fast-growing, well-resourced farming business.
Selection Criteria:
Strong practical livestock experience, ideally with beef cattle, dairy replacement heifers or young stock.
Confidence handling cattle safely and calmly, with good low-stress stock handling habits.
Good understanding of animal health, artificial breeding programs, nutrition, growth rates, weighing, treatments, welfare and record keeping.
Ability to plan and organise day-to-day livestock work across multiple sites, including feeding, pasture, water, fencing and cattle movements.
Willingness and ability to help support current and implement new farm technology, such as wearables, digital weighing systems and livestock data tools.
Sound communication skills and the ability to work well with owners, managers, staff, vets, contractors and suppliers.
Machinery, fencing, water system or general farm maintenance skills are desirable.
A positive, energetic attitude, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to safety, animal welfare and continual improvement.
This is an emerging position, and we are prepared to make this position work for the right person, with the right attitude. As a result of that, we are happy to discuss practical start date options.
So if you are seeking a genuine career opportunity and would like to be a crucial member of Fox Dairies’ growing team, please email your CV and a cover letter to hr•@foxdairies.com.au with the subject line: Beef and Young Stock Overseer.
