Lead a high performing Drafting team

A progressive and growing residential business, specialising in custom homes, multi-unit developments and energy-efficient residential projects. They're seeking an experienced and motivated Drafting Coordinator/Checker to lead and support the drafting team while maintaining the high documentation standards that underpin their reputation for quality.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced draftsperson looking to progress into a senior leadership role with greater responsibility for team management, workflow coordination and quality assurance.

About the Role

As the Drafting Coordinator, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of their drafting department. You will be responsible for producing high-quality construction documentation, coordinating an offshore drafting team, reviewing working drawings and ensuring projects are delivered accurately and on schedule.

Working closely with senior management and the broader design team, you will contribute to the ongoing improvement of drafting processes while maintaining exceptional documentation standards across a diverse range of residential projects.

Responsibilities

Produce high-quality working drawings for:

Single-storey homes

Double-storey homes

Multi-unit developments

Residential projects of varying size and complexity

Manage and coordinate the workflow and scheduling of an offshore drafting team.

Review and check working drawings to ensure accuracy, quality and compliance.

Provide technical support and problem-solving assistance to the drafting team.

Ensure project documentation is delivered accurately and within agreed timeframes.

Liaise with builders to develop project-specific drawing packages and documentation.

Ensure compliance with:

National Construction Code (NCC)

Residential Design Codes (R-Codes)

Local Government planning requirements

Developer design guidelines

Drive continuous improvement of drafting standards, systems and workflows.

Skills & Experience

Proficiency in ArchiCAD (Essential)

Strong understanding of: Local Government Planning Policies, Developer Guidelines, NCC and R-Codes

Experience preparing planning applications

Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.

This role is ideal for an experienced residential draftsperson who is ready to step into a leadership position while remaining hands-on with technical documentation.
