The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Part Time (min 20 hours per week with an average of 30 hours per week) Passenger Service Agent to join the Menzies Aviation Team based at the Cairns Airport working on behalf of Virgin Australia.

Our Passenger Service team is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while ensuring the smooth and efficient handling of passengers throughout their journey, from check-in and boarding to disembarkation and baggage collection. The role also involves providing support to passengers with special needs.

As a Passenger Service Agent, you will present a polished and professional image, demonstrate strong adaptability, and be capable of managing a variety of tasks across your shift in a dynamic airport environment.

What you’ll be doing

Delivering exceptional customer service and curating a positive, memorable experience for passengers

Process passenger check-in efficiently and accurately

Verify passports and travel documentation for compliance

Tag baggage, allocate seating, and issue boarding passes

Ensure adherence to all safety and security regulations

Operate multiple airline check-in systems proficiently

Perform boarding gate duties, including passenger announcements

Provide assistance to passengers with special needs

Participate in training programs and deliver on-the-job training

What we need from you

Demonstrates reliability and a strong work ethic

Thrives in fast-paced environments while meeting critical deadlines

Works effectively both independently and as part of a team

Maintains a strong focus on delivering excellent customer service

Proven experience in providing outstanding customer service

Flexible and motivated to work across a 7-day rotational roster as per flight schedules

Willing to undergo a Police Check, Airport Security Check, and pre-employment medical as part of standard employment requirements
