About you
You are a high-performing academic in Education with a strong background in online learning and teaching, academic leadership, and the end-to-end delivery of online higher education courses. You bring a sound understanding of contemporary and emerging online pedagogies and educational technologies, and a proven ability to lead, mentor and support Unit Coordinators to deliver student-centred, inspiring and innovative online teaching. You excel in a fast-paced environment, are known for being responsive and supportive of academics and students.
Purpose of the position
Lead and manage the high-quality, student-centred delivery of VU Online Education courses across the education portfolio and within the College of Arts, Business, Law, Education and IT (CoABLEIT), ensuring academic excellence, innovation, and strong student outcomes.
Ensure compliance and accreditation integrity by aligning all teaching, learning, assessment, and placement activities with Victoria University policies, TEQSA’s Higher Education Standards Framework (2021), and the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) accreditation requirements across all education courses.
Drive continuous improvement and collaboration across academic and professional teams to enhance curriculum design, unit design, assessment, the student experience, and operational performance, strengthening VU Online’s position as a national leader in flexible, high-quality digital education.
Selection criteria
A doctoral qualification (PhD or equivalent) and/or a Master’s degree in education.
Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration, or relevant qualifications and professional experience that satisfy the VIT requirements for teacher registration.
Proven record of excellence and innovation in online learning and teaching as well as leadership within Education, with deep understanding of the challenges associated with online learning for students.
Extensive experience in the administration and end-to-end delivery of online higher education programs, including curriculum design, assessment, moderation, and quality assurance processes.
Demonstrated academic leadership, with a proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate academic staff to deliver high-quality online learning experiences and achieve strong student outcomes.
Proven expertise in course quality assurance and improvement, including the ability to lead comprehensive course reviews, implement enhancement plans, and align with TEQSA and professional accreditation standards (e.g., VIT).
Strong understanding of higher education governance, accreditation, and compliance frameworks, including the TEQSA Higher Education Standards Framework (2021) and institutional policies.
Exceptional written and verbal communication, consultation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and build productive relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated commitment to learning and teaching excellence and continuous professional growth, with an enthusiasm for advancing innovative, student-centred approaches to online education.
Desired selection criteria
Demonstrated research profile as evidenced by high quality publications.
Experience teaching in a K-12 role, or experience in an educational leadership role.
