No previous collections experience is necessary.

The Role

We have an opportunity for a Collections Officer to join our Credit team in Alexandria.

You’ll be given your own portfolio of small to medium business customers and supported by an experienced team while you learn all aspects of credit and collections.

This is a hands-on role where you'll speak with customers, resolve account queries, arrange payments and learn how the credit function operates within the energy industry.

As your knowledge and experience grow, there will be opportunities to develop into more complex areas of Credit and Collections.

What You'll Be Doing

Contacting customers regarding overdue accounts

Managing your own portfolio of customers

Taking and processing payments

Negotiating payment arrangements

Helping customers resolve account and billing queries

Maintaining accurate customer records and account notes

Skip tracing and locating customers where required

Working with other teams to resolve account issues

Assisting with debt recovery and collection activities

Learning about disconnections and energy industry processes

Assisting with account investigations, including unauthorised electricity usage

General ledger management and payment allocations

What We're Looking For

You don't need previous collections experience.

We're more interested in finding someone who:

Is confident speaking with customers over the phone

Has good attention to detail

Is organised and reliable

Communicates clearly and professionally

Is comfortable having conversations about money

Can build rapport with different types of customers

Enjoys problem-solving

Is comfortable working with computer systems and learning new processes

Works well as part of a team

Experience That Would Be Helpful

Previous experience in any of the following would be an advantage, but isn't essential:

Customer service

Retail or hospitality

Contact centre or phone-based work

Administration

Accounts receivable or collections
