Volunteer Program Coordinator
Full-time | Preston HQ & satellite sites | $75,000–$85,000 + superannuation, depending on experience | Salary packaging available
Make a difference through volunteering
At LINK Community & Transport, our volunteers are at the heart of what we do. They help older people, people living with disability and members of the community stay connected, independent and engaged.
We're looking for a Volunteer Program Coordinator to help us attract, welcome, support and retain our incredible volunteer team.
This is a varied, people-focused role that combines recruitment, relationship building, administration, compliance, communications, events and continuous improvement. It's an opportunity to build a career in volunteer management while making a tangible difference to the experience of volunteers and the people they support.
About the role
You'll coordinate the volunteer journey from initial enquiry and recruitment through onboarding, training, ongoing support, engagement, recognition and eventually transition from the program.
You'll be involved in things like:
Supporting volunteer attraction and recruitment campaigns.
Processing applications and coordinating interviews, reference checks and compliance requirements.
Helping prospective and new volunteers navigate onboarding, technology and training.
Matching volunteers with suitable opportunities based on their interests, skills and availability.
Maintaining accurate volunteer records and ensuring compliance and training requirements are kept up to date.
Building strong relationships with volunteers and providing ongoing support throughout their volunteer journey.
Coordinating volunteer recognition, engagement activities and events that build connection and belonging.
Working with operational teams to support effective handover and ongoing volunteer engagement.
Using volunteer feedback, data and sector knowledge to identify opportunities to improve our volunteer program.
Participating in volunteer management networks and sector forums to develop your knowledge and bring new ideas to LINK.
This is a role for someone who enjoys variety. One day might involve interviewing prospective volunteers, following up compliance documentation and updating the CRM; another might involve helping someone overcome a technology hurdle, coordinating a volunteer event or working with an operational team to solve a volunteer-related issue.
About you
You don't need previous experience in volunteer management. We're interested in people who bring the right aptitude, attitude and transferable experience and are excited to develop their skills in this field.
You might come from a background in recruitment, HR, administration, customer service, community services, coordination or another people-focused role.
We're looking for someone who:
Builds genuine relationships and enjoys working with people.
Is highly conscientious and methodical, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate record keeping.
Is organised and follows tasks and processes through to completion.
Communicates confidently and respectfully with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
Is patient and supportive, particularly when helping people navigate systems, technology, training or compliance requirements.
Takes initiative and uses sound judgement while knowing when to seek guidance or escalate an issue.
Can adapt to changing priorities without losing sight of important details.
Is curious and comfortable learning new systems and ways of working.
Enjoys a role that combines people, administration, coordination and variety.
Shares our commitment to inclusion, community connection and the value of volunteering.
Why join LINK?
You'll join an organisation with more than 35 years of experience supporting people to live independently, stay connected and participate in their community.
You'll also have the opportunity to:
Develop a career in volunteer management and community services.
Work closely with an experienced Volunteer Services & Communications Manager and a dedicated volunteer team.
Build your knowledge of volunteer management, including contemporary practice and the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement.
Participate in volunteer management networks and sector learning opportunities.
Make a genuine contribution to the experience of volunteers and the communities they support.
Work in a values-driven organisation that values Responsive, Empowering, Trustworthy and Human ways of working.
Interested?
If you're a people-focused, organised and curious person who enjoys variety and wants to develop your skills in a role where your work genuinely matters, we'd love to hear from you.
Please submit your resume and a cover letter outlining why you're interested in the role and the skills and experience you would bring to LINK.
