The business:

Our client is a well-established Aussie fintech that quietly underpins a huge chunk of the country's everyday transactions — we're talking billions processed annually across hundreds of thousands of endpoints. They operate in one of the most regulated, security-critical corners of tech, where downtime isn't an inconvenience; it's a headline. As they scale, they're building out their Platform Ops crew to keep things fast, secure and rock-solid across on-prem and cloud.

The role:

This is a senior IC gig for someone who wants real ownership — not a ticket queue. You'll own the reliability, scalability and security of their production and non-prod environments, lead the messy incidents, and drive the automation and resilience work that keeps mission-critical systems humming. You'll be the one who spots the systemic risk before it turns into an outage. What you'll actually be doing:

• Keeping mission-critical systems up with minimal downtime
• Leading complex incident management, root cause analysis and remediation
• Managing Windows and Linux environments, VMware, and enterprise networking
• Running changes, upgrades and patching through proper change management
• Building automation (PowerShell/Bash) and pushing IaC and observability forward
• Supporting PCI-DSS and ISO 27001 control work plus DR/BCP testing
• Jumping on a rotating after-hours roster

What you'll bring:

• 5+ years in infrastructure or platform operations
• Solid on-prem data centre experience
• Strong Windows Server (AD, DNS, Group Policy) and hands-on Linux
• VMware (vSphere/vCenter)
• Good scripting in PowerShell and/or Bash
• Enterprise networking fundamentals (VLANs, firewalls, NAT)
• Proven incident management in high-availability systems
• Experience in regulated environments — PCI-DSS and/or ISO 27001
• IaC tooling (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet) and backup tech (Veeam).
