RTO Compliance Officer

Darwin, NT

Aboriginal Enterprises Australia Training is seeking an experienced RTO Compliance Officer to provide specialist compliance and quality assurance support to our Darwin-based Registered Training Organisation.

This is a contract engagement requiring approximately one month of on-site work in Darwin each quarter. The arrangement may be reviewed over time based on the RTO’s ongoing compliance requirements.

About the Role

Reporting to the Training Manager and working closely with trainers, assessors and senior management, you will be responsible for reviewing, maintaining and strengthening the RTO’s compliance and quality assurance systems.

The role will support the organisation to meet its regulatory obligations, prepare for audits and embed practical continuous improvement across its training operations.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and improve the RTO’s compliance and quality assurance systems.

Monitor compliance with the Standards for RTOs and other applicable regulatory requirements.

Conduct internal compliance reviews and audits.

Prepare documentation and evidence for ASQA audits and regulatory reviews.

Review and update policies, procedures, registers and compliance documentation.

Review training and assessment strategies, assessment tools and supporting resources.

Monitor trainer and assessor qualifications, industry currency and professional development records.

Coordinate and support assessment validation activities.

Review student files and records to identify compliance gaps.

Maintain continuous improvement, risk, validation and compliance registers.

Provide practical compliance advice and guidance to staff and management.

Identify compliance risks and recommend practical corrective actions.

Monitor the completion of corrective actions and improvement initiatives.

Prepare compliance reports and recommendations for management.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Demonstrated experience in RTO compliance, quality assurance or RTO management.

Strong knowledge of the Standards for RTOs and the Australian VET regulatory environment.

Experience preparing for and participating in ASQA audits or regulatory reviews.

Experience reviewing training and assessment strategies and assessment tools.

Strong written communication and document-development skills.

Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

The ability to interpret regulatory requirements and implement practical compliance systems.

The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with trainers, assessors and management.

A proactive and practical approach to continuous improvement.

Desirable

Experience working within a construction, trade or high-risk industry RTO.

A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or another relevant qualification.

Experience using student management systems and RTO compliance software.

Experience supporting an RTO through regulatory remediation or significant continuous improvement activities.

What We Offer

Contract rate of $500–$600 per day, depending on experience.

An initial engagement of approximately one month per quarter.

A Darwin-based role working directly with the Training Manager and operational team.

Potential for the engagement arrangements to evolve based on organisational requirements.
