HarperLloyd Recruitment
Posted 7 days ago
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Corporate & Commercial lawyer to join a highly regarded national Government practice, advising on significant and complex matters for Commonwealth Government and corporate clients.
Working within an established and growing team, you will gain exposure to major Australian Government projects and sophisticated commercial advisory work, with the opportunity to take on meaningful responsibility and develop strong client relationships.
The Opportunity
The practice acts for some of Australia's largest Commonwealth Government agencies, as well as government-owned corporations and private sector organisations.
The work is broad and commercially focused and will include:
- Commonwealth procurement and major government projects;
- complex commercial contracting and negotiations;
- technology and intellectual property matters;
- corporate advisory, governance and structuring;
- transactions and regulatory compliance; and
- general commercial advisory work for Government and corporate clients.
This is an opportunity to join a team where you can develop genuine depth in Commonwealth Government commercial work, while maintaining exposure to a broad Corporate & Commercial practice.
About You
Ideally, you will have:
- 4+ years' PAE in Corporate & Commercial law;
- experience gained within a well-regarded private practice environment;
- strong commercial contracting, drafting and advisory skills;
- an interest in Commonwealth Government transactions and projects;
- strong communication and client relationship skills; and
- the ambition to continue developing your career within private practice.
Previous Government experience is advantageous but not essential where you have a strong Corporate & Commercial background and genuine interest in the sector.
Candidates will need to hold, or have the ability and willingness to obtain, an AGSVA Baseline security clearance.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
The firm offers a compelling platform for ambitious lawyers, including:
- Clear progression based on merit and contribution, rather than simply tenure;
- significant exposure to clients and senior practitioners;
- high-quality, nationally significant Government work;
- a supportive, collaborative and down-to-earth team culture;
- flexible working arrangements;
- generous leave policies, including purchased, parental and performance reward leave; and
- the opportunity to join a growing practice with genuine long-term career prospects.
