About the Role

The Radiation Oncology Department at the Canberra Region Cancer Centre offers state-of-the-art radiotherapy facilities and delivers high-quality care to cancer patients across the ACT and surrounding regions. Supporting this mission, the Radiation Oncology Clinical Trials Unit drives innovative clinical research that contributes to advancements in cancer treatment and improved patient outcomes.

The Clinical Trial Coordinator plays a pivotal role in the successful delivery of research activities within the Radiation Oncology Clinical Trials Unit, reporting to the Senior Clinical Trials Co-ordinator. The role supports and coordinates a diverse portfolio of clinical research projects, including:

• Collaborative studies with the Trans-Tasman Radiation Oncology Group (TROG).
• Pharmaceutical-sponsored trials.
• Investigator-led studies in Phase I, II, and III oncology trials.
• Collaborations with the ANU/John Curtin School of Medical Research iCube Laboratory.
• Low-risk projects, including medical student research initiatives.

This role is responsible for coordinating all aspects of clinical trial planning, implementation, and management. This includes overseeing ethics and governance submissions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing contractual requirements. Acting as the primary contact for trial-related communications from sponsors, the Clinical Trial Coordinator works closely with Principal Investigators, Radiation Oncologists, and the broader research team. Together, the team upholds the highest standards of Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

Operating under the general direction of the Director of Research, Radiation Oncology Clinical Trials, this position works closely with Principal Investigators and clinical trial staff, while engaging regularly with the multidisciplinary Radiation Oncology team. The role reports directly to the Senior Clinical Trials Co-ordinator.
