Join a Major Rare Earth Mining Project in Western Australia
Mills Recruitment is currently seeking experienced Specialist Welders to join a major Rare Earth Mining Project based in Perth, Western Australia. These are long-term opportunities offering a minimum of 56 hours per week, with an initial project duration of 16 months or more.

About the Role
Working on a major mining construction project, you'll be responsible for carrying out high-quality coded welding, fabrication, installation and repair work on mining plant, structural steel and process pipework in accordance with engineering drawings and approved welding procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform coded welding on mining plant, structural steel and process pipework.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, fabrication drawings and pipe isometrics.
- Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, bevelling, fitting and aligning components prior to welding.
- Complete welds in accordance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
- Carry out visual inspections and prepare welds for quality testing.
- Perform repair welding and defect rectification where required.
- Support construction, installation and maintenance activities.
- Maintain quality documentation and weld traceability.
- Work safely in accordance with all site safety procedures and permit systems.
Fluxcore Welder Requirements
Applicants must be able to successfully complete:
- 3G & 4G Fluxcore Welding Test
- Welds must satisfy Ultrasonic Testing (UT) requirements.
Pipe Welder Requirements
Applicants must be able to successfully complete:
- 6G Pipe Welding Test
- Stainless Steel and Carbon Steel
- Welds must satisfy Radiographic Testing (RT) requirements.
Essential Requirements
To be considered you will have:
- Demonstrated experience as a coded welder within mining, heavy engineering, fabrication, shutdown or construction environments.
- Relevant Trade Qualification (or recognised overseas equivalent).
- Ability to read engineering drawings, welding symbols and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
- Strong understanding of weld preparation, fit-up and quality control.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Ability to work a minimum of 56 hours per week.
- Ability to successfully complete:
- Practical welding assessment
- Pre-employment Medical
- Drug & Alcohol Screen
- Site Induction and Mobilisation Requirements
Desirable Tickets
Highly regarded but not essential:
- White Card
- Working at Heights
- Confined Space
- Elevated Work Platform (EWP)
- Forklift Licence
- Rigging or Dogging
- Previous experience working on mining construction, processing plants or major shutdown projects.
