About the role
City College is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Carpentry Trainer & Assessor to join our team.
This role is ideal for a qualified carpenter who enjoys sharing practical industry knowledge and helping the next generation of tradespeople develop their skills. You will deliver engaging classroom and practical workshop training, assess student competency, and support students throughout their qualification.
Key responsibilities
Deliver high-quality theoretical and practical carpentry training.
Conduct competency-based assessments in accordance with training and assessment requirements.
Demonstrate safe and effective use of carpentry tools, equipment and construction techniques.
Support students with different learning needs and levels of industry experience.
Maintain accurate attendance, assessment and student progress records.
Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students.
Participate in validation, moderation and continuous improvement activities.
Maintain a safe, professional and inclusive learning environment.
Keep training materials and industry knowledge current.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
A recognised carpentry trade qualification.
Significant and current carpentry or construction industry experience.
A current Trainer and Assessor qualification accepted for delivery within the VET sector.
Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
The ability to engage, motivate and support students.
Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements.
Good organisational, record-keeping and time-management skills.
Previous experience delivering carpentry training within an RTO, TAFE, college or workplace environment will be highly regarded.
