About the Client

Our client supplies industrial and safety products, equipment and procurement solutions—including PPE, tools, workwear and maintenance supplies—to support mining, construction, manufacturing, utilities and other industries across Australia

About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Expediting Lead to strengthen supplier engagement, improve supplier response rates, and proactively manage at-risk purchase orders through to resolution. Leading a small team, you will work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to improve visibility of supply risks, optimise supplier performance, and ensure accurate delivery information is available to support operational and customer outcomes. This role is ideal for someone with strong supplier networks, expediting experience, and a passion for continuous improvement and process automation.

Key Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day supplier expediting and purchase order follow-up activities

Manage supplier delivery risks, delays, and escalation processes

Build and maintain strong supplier relationships and industry networks

Improve supplier response rates and accountability measures

Analyse supplier performance and identify improvement opportunities

Develop and enhance expediting processes, reporting, and automation initiatives

Lead and support a small expediting team

Monitor aged purchase orders and supplier backlogs

Prepare performance reports and communicate risks to stakeholders

Collaborate with purchasing, sales, operations, and supply chain teams to resolve supply issues

Skills and Experience Required

Experience in expediting, procurement, purchasing, or supply chain operations

Strong supplier relationship management skills with established industry contacts

Experience engaging and influencing vendors to achieve delivery outcomes

Exposure to process improvement, automation, or supply chain optimisation initiatives

Strong analytical and reporting skills, including advanced Excel capability

Experience working with ERP and procurement systems

Ability to prioritise high-volume workloads and manage competing deadlines

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Understanding of supplier performance, inventory, backorders, and logistics impacts

Experience leading or mentoring team members (preferred)
