About

Join a leading, healthcare business based in Melbourne’s inner suburbs. Committed to providing essential health services, they operate in a dynamic and patient-driven environment where every team member contributes to positive patient outcomes.

Defined by agility and a collaborative culture, this organisation is navigating a transformative period of digital evolution. As we enter a new chapter focused on operational capability and sustainable impact, there is a clear mandate for a Product Manager – AI & Automation to secure long-term capability.

The organisation's immediate priority is maturing internal processes to ensure the continued delivery of tangible value to the public. A key focus within this transformation is shifting the organisations AI usage towards an enterprise-grade program

The Opportunity

Reporting into the Head of Data and Applications, the Product Manager role is a pivotal role designed to lead the direction, prioritisation and governance of this organisation's AI and automation capability. This 12-month engagement comes as a critical juncture as they navigate the growing use of AI within the business. This role exists to bring this activity under ownership: set direction, governing it responsibility and ensuring the organisation realises genuine value.

We are moving fast to transform scattered AI experiments into a powerful, unified strategy. In this brand-new role, you’ll blend high-level strategy with hands-on agility, prototyping quick ideas yourself while partnering with our internal delivery pool and specialist tech partners to scale larger builds. You’ll optimise workflows, drive ethical AI governance, and take our FY27 pilot from an early-stage initiative to a cornerstone capability that transforms how our entire organisation operates.

What You'll Do

You will own the AI roadmap, establish robust governance frameworks, rapidly prototype high-impact solutions, and build sustainable automated pipelines that directly reduce administrative friction for frontline healthcare workers across a complex landscape of service delivery.

  • Contribute to the organisations broader digital strategy alongside the Executives Lead and relevant governance bodies
  • Work with clinical, operational and corporate leaders to identify AI and automation opportunities and ensure prioritisation lies in meaningful improvements
  • Lead and develop testing and deployment discipline across all delivery paths
  • Maintain awareness of emerging developments in AI, and bring relevant opportunities to the team in a practical, grounded way
  • Represent the AI and automation programme clearly in governance forums, project groups, and steering committees, translating technical risk and progress into language that helps decision-makers make sound judgements.
  • Oversee the product delivery roadmap for the organisations AI strategy

What You'll Bring

This opportunity pairs the dynamic, hands-on scope of tech build with the deep purpose of an organisation dedicated to health equity. Rather than acting purely as a strategist or purely as a developer, you sit in the driver's seat of the organisation's AI transformation—leading program strategy while personally building and validating high-value prototypes. You will enjoy true platform ownership, structured support from specialized technical delivery teams, and the knowledge that every efficiency you unlock directly improves health outcomes for vulnerable communities

  • Demonstrated hands on experience with workflow automations platforms
  • Deep understanding of AI safety standards, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), shadow AI mitigation, and privacy frameworks (including APPs and Victorian privacy legislation) within sensitive environments
  • Experience managing external technology vendors, holding partners accountable, and strategically using third-party expertise to build internal capability rather than long-term dependency.
  • Genuine passion for leveraging technology to improve social outcomes, grounded in ethical decision-making and pragmatic execution.
