The Arnhem Land Progress Aboriginal Corporation (ALPA) is Australia’s largest First Nations corporation supporting communities across remote Arnhem Land. ALPA is seeking a General Manager, Community Services to lead a broad portfolio of programs.
Reporting to the CEO and based at the Darwin Support Office, this senior leadership role is responsible for the strategic direction, governance and operational performance of ALPA’s Community Services division, spanning employment, training, youth, reconnection, education and community engagement programs.
The successful candidate will bring experience leading a major division or diverse departments in a service orientated industry. They will be commercially astute, financially disciplined and able to manage contracts, grants, budgets, reporting, risk and stakeholder relationships.
As a member of the Executive Management Team, the General Manager will strengthen service delivery, lead dispersed teams, support workforce stability and contribute to whole-of-organisation strategy under ALPA’s “One ALPA One Vision” approach. The role requires a collaborative, resilient and visible leader who is comfortable spending meaningful time in communities.
Travel to remote communities is a requirement of the role and may include vehicle travel, unsealed roads and small light aircraft.
Candidates will ideally demonstrate:
Senior leadership experience across a complex division or service portfolio.
Experience managing government grants, contracts, reporting and acquittals.
Strong financial management and commercial acumen.
Proven people leadership in outcome-funded environments.
Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
A genuine commitment to community outcomes.
Relevant tertiary or postgraduate qualifications, experience with National Indigenous Australians Agency-funded programs, remote employment and participation strategies, or exposure to Indigenous Corporations or communities would be highly regarded.
