About the Role
We are looking for experienced, reliable Support Workers to join a small, consistent team supporting a woman living with an acquired brain injury (ABI).
She is warm, insightful and values dignity, routine and genuine connection. Her interests include coffee, cooking, music, gardening, home-based activities, community outings and spending time with her cavoodle.
This is a hands-on role, not companionship only. You will be actively supporting daily life, including:
Personal care (showering, hygiene)
Supporting routines, structure and task sequencing
Cooking, meal prep and household tasks
Community access and appointments
Medication administration
Emotional support and reassurance
Fatigue management and cognitive support
Routine and consistency are critical. Support needs fluctuate daily depending on fatigue, cognition and pain, so you must be calm, patient and adaptable.
Communication is impacted by the ABI. You will need to use:
Clear, simple spoken English
Short instructions and repetition
Patience, reassurance and humour
Awareness that fatigue may present as anxiety, confusion or resistance
You will be joining a stable, relationship-based team with strong expectations around consistency, communication and collaboration. Family are involved and clear support strategies are in place.
Available shifts:
Wednesday, Friday & Saturday day shifts (6–10 hrs)
Sunday (8:00am – 2:00pm)
Tuesday & Thursday inactive sleepovers
Additional shifts may become available
Who You Are
You are in this work to genuinely make a difference and understand that good support is built on trust, patience and consistency.
You are:
Calm, emotionally regulated and patient
Reliable and consistent (this matters)
Warm, respectful and relationship-focused
Observant, proactive and adaptable
Comfortable providing personal care
Team-oriented and able to follow established routines
Confident cooking and engaging in everyday activities
You communicate clearly, keep things simple, and can support someone through confusion, fatigue or overwhelm without escalating the situation.
Essential:
NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
First Aid & CPR
Driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
Willingness to provide hands-on care
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Highly regarded:
Cert III / EN qualifications
Experience with ABI, neurological conditions or dementia
Understanding of trauma-informed and person-centred practice
Best suited to someone who:
Wants long-term, consistent work
Values relationship-based support over task-focused care
Can work within an established team and follow structure
Is adaptable to changing support needs
Not suitable if you:
Prefer purely task-based roles
Are unreliable or inconsistent
Are uncomfortable with personal care
Are looking for short-term work
Please note: The successful candidate will be required to participate in an Australian Federal Police check, NDIS Quality and Safeguards Worker Screening and a Working with Children Check, prior to confirmation of appointment to the position.
The successful candidate will also be required to demonstrate entitlement to work in Australia, and to disclose any pre-existing injury or disease which may be adversely affected by undertaking the inherent requirements of the position.
