Most infrastructure engineers eventually reach a crossroads.

They specialise in networking.

They specialise in cloud.

Or they move into architecture or management.

This opportunity offers a different path.

Our client is investing in the technology platforms that support clinicians, operational teams and patients every day.

They're looking for an engineer who enjoys technical variety, solving practical problems and working across both networking and cloud.

Why This Role Exists

As the organisation continues to grow, so does the demand for reliable connectivity, scalable cloud services and well-managed infrastructure.

This role has been created to strengthen capability across both networking and cloud engineering.

The work is expected to be weighted approximately 60% networking and 40% cloud.

That balance is deliberate.

This isn't a cloud architect role.

It's a practical engineering opportunity for someone who enjoys solving real infrastructure and connectivity challenges while continuing to expand their technical scope.

About the Organisation

Our client is a mid-sized Australian healthcare organisation supporting thousands of Australians every day.

Technology plays a critical role in enabling clinicians and operational teams to deliver reliable services across multiple locations.

Continued investment in technology is helping improve operational efficiency while supporting future growth.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of IT and working closely with the CIO, you'll help evolve the organisation's networking and cloud environment.

You'll work across connectivity, Azure infrastructure, monitoring, platform reliability and cloud operations.

Rather than building greenfield environments, you'll focus on improving, optimising and strengthening an established technology platform.

If you enjoy practical engineering more than project management, you'll feel at home here.

What You'll Actually Do

  • Support network operations, routing, VPNs and site-to-site connectivity
  • Administer Azure infrastructure and support cloud operations
  • Assist with AWS environments where required
  • Improve monitoring, resilience and platform performance
  • Support new site integrations and ongoing infrastructure improvements
  • Maintain technical documentation and engineering standards
  • Contribute to future cloud, data and AI platform initiatives
  • Solve engineering challenges across infrastructure, networking and cloud technologies

What You'll Bring

You'll probably be working as a:

  • Network Engineer
  • Infrastructure Engineer
  • Systems Engineer
  • Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
  • Infrastructure Engineer with strong networking experience

You'll ideally bring:

  • Strong networking capability across routing, VPNs and multi-site environments
  • Exposure to Azure and modern cloud infrastructure
  • Experience supporting Microsoft infrastructure environments
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability
  • The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders
  • A genuine interest in working across both networking and cloud technologies

Most importantly, you'll enjoy solving practical problems, learning new technologies and building a broad engineering skill set.

Why Join?

Many engineering roles eventually require you to choose a specialist path.

This one doesn't.

You'll continue working across networking and cloud while staying close to the technology, solving real engineering challenges and contributing to an environment that continues to evolve.

If you're looking for a role that will strengthen your technical capability, expose you to a broad range of technologies and keep you hands-on, we'd welcome a confidential discussion.

Working Model & Remuneration

  • North Sydney
  • Five days per week in the office
  • $160,000-$170,000 package inclusive of superannuation

Building a collaborative engineering culture requires people working closely together, which is why this role is office-based.
