The Role
An excellent opportunity to add value to the Contracts and Procurement team and the broader organisation. The Category Manager will work with internal and external stakeholders in establishing and managing strategic, complex, high value, high risk and business critical contracts and spend for goods and services to drive down total cost of ownership in accordance with the objectives of the Fire Rescue Victoria Business Plan.
Functional Accountabilities:
Ensure the successful on time establishment and management of complex, strategic, high value (across sector) contracts
Identify opportunities to provide reduction in total cost of ownership across the business by engaging in spend analysis, market investigation and various stakeholder engagement
Develop and implement transparent, appropriate practice procurement strategies and processes to deliver best value for money outcomes on a timely basis
Ensure that category supply arrangements are appropriately contracted, and within necessary and agreed timelines.
The Team
The Corporate Services Directorate provides advice, planning and support in the areas of Finance, Information Technology, Fleet, Property and Records Management. In addition, the directorate also provides oversight of the FRV commercial arm, Fire and Equipment Services (FES). The directorate is a key enabler for the operational and corporate units of the business to deliver on organisational objectives.

What you will need to Succeed
To be successful in this position, you will have:
Aa appropriate CIPSA certification for procurement or equivalent
University degree in relevant field
Substantial sourcing and contract management experience
Sound knowledge in best strategic practices, customer focused with excellent influencing and negotiating skills
Ability to undertake complex and medium to high-risk contract negotiations to achieve best outcomes
Demonstrated ability to plan, manage and implement complex sourcing and contract management activities in compliance with Vic Government Procurement Guidelines.
