About this role
We are looking for an HR Manager who combines a genuine focus on developing people with the assurance to set and enforce clear standards. The role centres on strengthening our management team, recognising that effective leadership at this level underpins the performance of the entire business.
Your contribution to the team
Here's what your work will look like as you deliver your objectives:
• Driving our managers to achieve high performing results. This is the heart of the role. You'll partner with them, coach them, and hold them accountable so their teams stay motivated and consistently deliver.
• Making sure our policies are understood and followed across the business, and stepping in confidently when they aren't. You'll lead disciplinary matters calmly, fairly and lawfully, and people will trust that you handle these things properly.
• Bringing strong strategic and operational HR thinking into our business planning, and keeping leadership in the loop on changes in employment law and where HR is heading.
• Owning performance management from end to end, including appraisal cycles and coaching managers through the tricky conversations, always keeping things fair, lawful and well documented.
• Connecting appraisals to real development, then delivering or arranging coaching in areas like soft skills, difficult conversations and staying motivated.
• Helping build a workplace people actually enjoy being part of, through everyday engagement, team events and our social club.
• Keeping us on the right side of diversity, EEO and bullying and harassment risk.
The skills you'll need to deliver your objectives
Here's what we're hoping you bring:
• Solid hands on experience in a similar HR generalist or HR Manager role, ideally in a comparable industry.
• A practical, level headed problem solver who can untangle competing issues and land solutions that actually work.
• A strong working knowledge of national and state employment law, award interpretation and the National Employment Standards.
• Real experience across performance management and terminations, handled the right way.
• A genuine track record of coaching managers and supervisors to lift how they lead.
• The confidence to implement and enforce policy, and to run disciplinary processes fairly and by the book.
• Confidence delivering training on EEO, bullying and harassment, and diversity.
• Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel.
• A relevant degree in human resources, training, behavioural sciences or commerce.
Added advantages:
• Website, intranet or social media skills.
You are a clear, level-headed communicator who values honesty, a strong work ethic and fresh thinking. You take a broad, strategic view, make sound decisions under pressure, and build rapport just as effectively with frontline staff as with senior management.
A note on the arrangement
This is a contract based position with a light, focused footprint: three hours a day, three days a week, on site. A compact commitment, but one where you'll have real influence over how well this business runs. Remuneration for this position is $60 to $65 per hour plus superannuation, commensurate with experience.
Please note that due to an anticipated high volume of responses, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Only those with an unrestricted visa to live and work permanently in Australia can be considered.
Good people can pick and choose who they work for, so before you apply, feel free to find out more about the role and the team. For a confidential discussion please call Hazel on +61• •••• •150, or Amelia on +61• •••• •922, or click Apply to submit your resume now!
