Data Migration Consultants Pty Ltd (DataMC) is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Developer to join our growing Brisbane and Sunshine Coast teams. This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale data migration and transformation projects for a diverse range of clients, while also contributing to the development of frameworks, tools, and technical best practices across the organisation.

As a senior member of the technical team, you will be responsible for designing and delivering robust solutions, mentoring developers, supporting technical leadership activities, and helping drive continuous improvement across our delivery capability. There is also a clear pathway for progression into roles such as Technical Lead for individuals who demonstrate strong technical, leadership, and delivery skills.

To be successful in this role, you will hold a tertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related discipline, and have a minimum of 5 years' professional software development experience. You will have a strong background in application development, database technologies, systems integration, and solution design, along with experience working within data migration, data transformation, enterprise application implementation, or digital transformation environments. Experience delivering complex projects within consulting, professional services, or large-scale in-house transformation programs will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

A DataMC Senior Developer is expected to take ownership of technical deliverables, provide guidance to other developers, and contribute to the successful delivery of complex data migration and transformation projects. Responsibilities include:

Working as a senior member of a project team and supporting the Technical Lead in delivering project outcomes.

Designing, developing, testing, and optimising SQL Server solutions in accordance with DataMC standards, coding guidelines, and best practices.

Leading the design and implementation of data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.

Identifying opportunities to automate migration activities and improve delivery efficiency.

Performing data profiling, analysis, and validation activities to assess source data quality and identify migration risks.

Troubleshooting complex technical issues and providing guidance to project teams.

Participating in data mapping, solution design workshops, technical reviews, and client discussions.

Reviewing the work of other developers and ensuring adherence to quality standards.

Mentoring junior and intermediate developers and contributing to capability development across the business.

Learning and applying new technologies, tools, and methodologies, including DataMC's proprietary frameworks and delivery approaches.

Participating in all stages of the data migration lifecycle, from project initiation through to cutover and post go-live support.

Supporting trial migrations, rehearsals, and go-live activities, including work outside normal business hours where required.

Contributing to the development of reusable frameworks, accelerators, standards, and technical documentation.

Supporting multiple projects and assisting with technical problem-solving across the broader delivery team.

Leading technical discussions with clients and stakeholders and clearly communicating complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Demonstrating strong analytical skills, attention to detail, initiative, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Acting as a role model for DataMC's values, delivery standards, and technical excellence.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will possess strong knowledge and experience in the following areas:

Data migration methodologies, including staging, transformation, reconciliation, validation, and cutover processes.

Advanced SQL Server development, performance tuning, query optimisation, and database design.

Designing, developing, documenting, and supporting solutions to facilitate the extraction, transformation, validation, and loading of data using Microsoft SQL Server and related ETL technologies.

Experience designing and delivering complex ETL solutions for large-scale transformation and data migration projects.

Strong understanding of data quality assessment, data profiling, cleansing, reconciliation, and exception management processes.

Experience planning and executing end-to-end data migration trials, mock cutovers, production cutovers, and go-live activities.

Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and identify practical, scalable solutions.

Experience integrating systems and working with APIs, data interchange formats, and enterprise application environments.

Experience conducting code reviews and applying software engineering best practices to improve solution quality and maintainability.

Strong Git skills, including branch management, pull requests, code reviews, and version control best practices. Experience with GitFlow or similar branching strategies is highly desirable.

Experience mentoring and supporting junior developers and contributing to the development of technical capability within a delivery team.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Ability to lead technical workshops, contribute to solution design discussions, and provide technical guidance to project teams.

A continuous improvement mindset with a willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and methodologies.

Applicants must be Australian Citizens, Permanent Residents, or hold unrestricted working rights in Australia.

This is a full-time, office-based role located in either our Brisbane CBD or Buderim (Sunshine Coast) office. This position is designed for individuals who thrive in a collaborative, in-person environment and is not suited to candidates seeking a predominantly work-from-home arrangement.

DataMC's recruitment process consists of three stages.

1. Shortlisted candidates will participate in an initial interview,

2. Candidates will undertake a technical assessment designed to evaluate their development skills, problem-solving, and solution design capabilities.

3. Meet with members of the executive leadership team.

If you're an experienced developer looking to challenge yourself, grow your technical capability, and play a key role in delivering high-profile data migration and transformation projects, apply now.
