Building Certifier – Level 3 (Contract)
11-Month Fixed Term Contract | Until 2 July 2027 | Livingstone
$90k - $115k + super
We're seeking an experienced Building Certifier (Level 3 minimum) to join a Queensland local government authority on an 11-month contract, running through to 2 July 2027.
This is a great opportunity for a certifier who wants the variety and community impact of local government work, without the long-term commitment
About the Role
You'll assist in delivering the Council's commercial Building Certification service, working across development applications, swimming pool safety, and building compliance throughout the construction lifecycle. You'll provide specialist technical advice to the public and internal units, and may be called on as an expert witness in Building/Development Tribunal matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate, assess and determine development applications for building works under the Queensland Development Code
- Administer requirements of the Building Act and associated regulations
- Conduct inspections across construction stages, including swimming pool safety
- Issue final completion certificates and prepare related notices and correspondence
- Provide technical advice to Council, internal teams and the public
- Contribute to policy and procedure recommendations
What You'll Need
- Bachelor of Building Surveying and Certification, or Advanced Diploma of Building Surveying with substantial certification/construction experience
- Current QBCC accreditation as a Building Certifier – minimum Level 3
- Eligibility for membership with the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors
- Construction Industry Induction (White Card)
- Current motor vehicle driver's licence
- Local government experience and/or a Swimming Pool Safety Inspector Licence (QLD) highly regarded
