Contract Administrator – Bulk Earthworks

9–12 month project | Highly commercial role | Major civil works

We are seeking a commercially driven Contract Administrator to join our project team on a major bulk earthworks package

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who understands the commercial realities of civil construction and can actively protect project margin, manage contractual risk and maintain strong cost control throughout delivery.

The role

Working closely with the Project Manager and site team, you will take ownership of the project’s commercial and contractual administration.

Your responsibilities will include:

Administering the head contract and subcontract agreements

Preparing and assessing progress claims, variations and payment schedules

Identifying commercial risks and opportunities early

Preparing contractual notices and maintaining compliant project records

Managing subcontractor claims, variations and final accounts

Supporting procurement and negotiating subcontract and supplier packages

Monitoring budgets, commitments, accruals and project cash flow

Preparing cost reports, forecasts and cost-to-complete updates

Tracking quantities and reconciling actual costs against production

Supporting extension-of-time and delay claims where required

Working closely with the delivery team to ensure commercial decisions reflect site conditions

Providing clear commercial reporting to project and senior management

This is not simply a paperwork role. You will be expected to understand what is happening on site, challenge costs, maintain commercial discipline and ensure all project entitlements are properly captured.

About you

You will ideally have:

Contract administration experience within civil construction

Strong commercial understanding and attention to detail

Experience managing subcontractors, claims, variations and cost reporting

The ability to interpret contracts and apply their requirements practically

Confidence preparing contractual correspondence and commercial recommendations

Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder-management skills

Experience with bulk earthworks, mining infrastructure or major civil projects

A relevant qualification in construction management, quantity surveying, engineering or commerce

Australian construction experience and full working rights

You will be proactive, commercially astute and comfortable working closely with both site personnel and senior management. Experience on production-driven earthworks projects will be highly regarded.

What’s on offer

Secure project work for approximately 9–12 months

Competitive remuneration package

Commercial ownership of a substantial bulk earthworks package

Direct involvement in project decision-making

Support from an experienced project and senior management team

Potential for ongoing opportunities following project completion

If you are a commercially focused Contract Administrator who understands civil construction and knows how to protect project outcomes, we would like to hear from you.
